I kind of check there every once in a while now but basically they aren't going to be satisfied until Adam does something that THEY consider rock in their own tiny minds and it seems they subscribe to that sad formula which says that unless you sound like you are passing a kidney stone you can't possibly have any soul. I think Adam is actually too good for them to be able to appreciate although they do acknowledge that as far as technique goes he's a beast. Yes, for many of them if Adam does not wail or hit the high notes it is not good enough and he wastes his talent. They thought OoL is lame and BTIKM is generic and sounds like Daniel Badingfield (or however he is called). I never understand all the criticism about Adam's singing technique at all, sound so serious and silly. Why do these people force themseleves to hear something they don't like? Strange to me, it is music and it suppose to be entertained and make you feel good. Even if Adam choose to sing Rock, it's not gonna to fit their style.

Aren't these mostly teen age and young 20 guys who think they are experts? : Yes, just like we are all experts too. Seriously, there are a couple posters there who appear to be really knowledgeable. ETA: This is Daniel Badingfield -- and Adam and he are both men. I think the comparison stops there.

Erm, IDK I think "borrows the bass line" is pretty clear cut. If it's not a sample then why not say "is reminiscent of" or something...besides even if it's not the exact bass line but is close enough the original artist can sue. I think Huey Lewis did this in thr 80s with the Ghost Busters soundtrack. I remember hearing on some Behind the music where he sued Ray Parker Jr for copywright--and while it didn't sound too similar to me--a jury agree with Lewis.
IDK....I guess we shall see...I mean did someone specifically say it WASN'T a sample?

Are all ways to say it's similar or evocative without being "borrowed from," which DOES make it sound literal, IMO.

On the EW review, any review that gives Taylor Swift a B+ and Adam Lambert a C+ is irrelevant! That review reads like someone who wants Adam doing Rock songs, like the Queen performance.

A few comments on Sauli's blog. Interesting that Sauli mentioned the sunny days in LA and how much easier the jet lag adjustment was coming back. I read some articles about Jet Lag a few days ago, because I was curious about how alcohol would affect it. A few things jumped out at me. 1) Jet Lag is at its worst going west to east. The reason is that the body adjusts to staying up later, better than it adjusts to getting up earlier! 2) One of the easiest ways to combat jet lag is to expose yourself to lots of sunshine when you arrive. It sends the message to your body rythmns that "it is daytime, right now." From what Sauli said about the weather in Helsinki, I would say they got little to no sunshine there.
One more thing, I remember when I moved to CA from CT for my husband, I had a few years of hating it here. But I remember the great feeling the first time I went back to CT to visit and was missing CA. Then when I got back was glad to be home. It was a big, "Aha, this is where I belong!"
Oh, and lastly, that rooftop photo is HOT!!! Loving his hair that color!

My mother tongue is not English - so I may be completely off track, but to me it sounds literal. And there is this tweet from the writer of the article, which kinda makes it sound like a sample: cybilspider Cybil Spider @adamlambert 3) You can borrow the bassline from Another One Bites The Dust without fear of being sued.... 14 Nov But please correct me if I´m wrong. :-/
