I watched the FOX broadcast and Adam and Demi were great. It still feels like Adam's song tho, lol. On a different note, I do not get the appeal of Billie Eilish for pop or rock, Lizzo or LNX (other than he is pushing the envelope for gay acts and that is a good thing). But they are very successful so it works. However, H.E.R. is something really special, imo. I know she is only 24 but she does not seem like a kiddie or pop or rap act with a gimmick. In her case, I feel the Grammy's and Oscar and hype are much deserved. Her cool style and talent are so refreshing. Actually Harry Styles is another young performer that I like even if he is not the best vocalist. I like his vibe and he doesn't try to chase or follow the crowd. But I think H.E.R. is on a whole other level. I think she is one who will be recognized and remembered long after many others are forgotten. Sometimes you make a major or bigger statement and impact by being different. And by showcasing YOUR talent and not trying to follow the trends. So she is one I will continue to watch. And she has performed 3 times at the same event as Adam so it was hard for me to miss her. HA! Global Citizens with QAL. We The People on Netflix. And Global Citizens in LA. Gotta say I agree with you about Billie and Lizzo and LNX. But here's how I put it in context. Adam once said about the success of a singer, "It's not about the voice." He is spot on. Billie and LIzzo and LNX sing just fine. Their voices are just fine. But hitting the very top of the charts and having mega-stardom (not so sure about Lizzo here, but still) has everything to do with timing and fan demographics, a look, a quirk or a gimmick, or even a name. Quite honestly, I think one of Billie's assets is her name. It's a very cool name. Fun to say. LNX pushes the sex envelope to the max. Lizzo gets out her flute. KISS struggled along till they put on the make-up and then BOOM! There are plenty of other examples. Adam is know first for his voice. Early on, he got a lot of talk about his make-up and he's always been sexy onstage. But at his core, it's his voice that defines him. |

Ok, just got a chance to listen to Mad World...am I the only one that thinks that was a hot mess? What the hell were those harmonies Demi tried to sing? Sorry, that made me cringe. Wish Adam could have sung that by himself.
Mad World is Adam's song lol.
I did enjoy Super Power...that was fun and he sounded really good.

He owns that song. I didn't think his duet with Demi was a hot mess, but nothing can compare to Adam's own solo version. Sure, their harmonies weren't real tight, and I missed Adam's soaring "look right through meee" moment. But it was Demi after all, and she's pretty major, so I was happy with it over all. I thought about that utter debacle when Gaga showed up to sing with Queen. It was truly unbearable. I'll take a slightly less stunning Mad World over that disaster any day. |
