I find all of this fascinating. My heart dropped a little when rihannsu said this:
For instance since Kelly's song is also raging up the charts right now the RCA team could well have a handshake agreement with radio to let them push Kelly's song now and lag a couple of weeks on Adam's so that both songs can peak without stomping on each other. The groundwork of support could be laid already. It really doesn't make sense for RCA to push radio on both songs simultaneously but back to back would be fine. So Kelly got a lot of adds early which makes sense because radio knows her well but if Adam's adds are a little late it's not a problem because a) it lets Kelly's song peak first and b) it puts the peak for Adam's song closer to album release.
This is pretty much what some (fans of KC) have been saying on twitter. That Adams album release AND single release were both pushed back so RCA could wedge KC in there. Many of us questioned that theory because it's hard to believe RCA couldn't promo 2 artists simultaneously. But perhaps we were wrong & the KC fan was correct. IDK. I only know that it seems KC had gotten much more promo that Adam at the same point. I haven't seen the promised explosion for HIM yet but then I am an impatient soul.
Hastens to add - I do not question the European promotion. I'm totally behind it - especially the UK. But I really want some heavy radio promo in US pronto!
Or in other words - what myspenser said.

Jazz, you actually summed up what I was trying to say in just one of your sentences! Many of us questioned that theory because it's hard to believe RCA couldn't promo 2 artists simultaneously.I don't think Adam is getting shortchanged at all. It's just that the Dec. 20th date messed with our brains. Forget Dec 20th and think of it as all starting January 9th!

Forget Dec 20th and think of it as all starting January 9th! Done. I'm sneaking in a link here from a John Moser (aka John L. Oser) blog online & in my local paper. It's mostly about Idol (with many incorrect facts) but there 2 paragraphs that are about Adam. He has BTIKM & Trespassing confused, among other things. Read it if you feel so inclined. I tried to stop myself from adding a comment but couldn't. The last 2 comments are mine. bit.ly/zbb6YzBTW - the reason I posted the link in this thread is 1) I'm not caught up enough in News to post there, 2) I don't want wanking about negativity there & 3) The blog does have to do with Numbers - sales & ratings. If it doesn't belong here please move or delete. I won't be mad. :D

Would you mind quoting those 2 paragraphs about Adam here, so we do not give him hits?

I will tomorrow a.m. Not home now & on my iPad. Can't copy/paste. . But the entire article is interesting for what he has to say about idols from prior seasons & several inaccuracies. I think you should give it one teeny hit & not worry about it. But I will post Adam part tomorrow.

His whole article is full of inaccuracies! It amazes me that he actually gets paid to me a music critic. It's kind of embarrassing, actually!

Nothing I posted had anything to do with adjusting release dates. It's pretty obvious that Adam chose to work longer on his album and so his album release was pushed back because he was and is still working on it. Kelly's album had been done for a year by the time she finally got a release date. It seems to me that Daughtry's album got sped up to take advantage of the Nov date that Adam left free. Also Adam's single did not get pushed back because of Kelly's. When he announced that his single was not going to be out until January they were nowhere near to releasing Stronger for Kelly as they were still working MKIA. If anything Adam got his single dropped early to give us fans a Christmas present. They had told us it would be dropping in January and then all of a sudden that got changed.
All I am talking about in my posts is that it makes perfect sense for them to not have two of their artists stepping on each others toes at radio. It has nothing to do with whether or not they can work two artists at the same time but I for one would be really really pissed if they were pushing them to peak at the same time and Kelly beat out Adam. Why would they not want BOTH of their artists to do as well as possible. Stronger is shooting up the charts right now and since Adam's album doesn't drop for two months it makes no sense to push for his song to peak early. Why would we want to risk his single being on a downswing as the album drops. That is what the Kelly fans were all bitching about with MKIA because the song was not peaking when the album dropped and they didn't feel it was helping album sales enough.
Is everyone forgetting that best case scenario for Adam to have great first week album sales is for him to have a single peaking on radio about the time of the drop? We don't need the single to race up the charts, we need it to peak at the right time.
Adam worked with Pharrell at the end of May right and the album changed direction significantly after that and Adam has said that he is STILL NOT DONE so how can anyone say that RCA pushed his album back to make room for Kelly. That makes no sense. Daughtry had been tweeting about his process and plans were for him to do recording in Nashville (I think) and all of a sudden he was recording in LA and his album completion went into overdrive and this was right after Adam said he wasn't releasing in November. Plus whenever we thought he was still dropping the single in Oct Nov ish everyone was bitching that it was WAY too early if the album wasn't coming out til early 2012 so any tie in to Kelly's release dates make no sense whatsoever.

Rhiannsu, sorry if you misunderstood my reference to the release date. That was a direct response to Jazz because I know she tends to freak out and angst early. Hi, Jazz!! It actually had nothing to do with any of your posts. ETA: The people that are saying Adam was pushed back for Kelly are referring to the singles (BTIKM and Stronger,) not the albums. But these are just the alarmists at MJ's and the fake concerned posters who like to stir up sh*t! <<< I call those people "concern trolls."
