Do you guys think he is going to wait until closer to album drop to do more radio promo in US? Like the East coast? That doesn't seem smart to me (although I know nothing). They need to whip up support for BTIKM, no?

Probably, but I definitely think they are going to let the video have an impact first and save the real radio push for later. We really don't know at this point because there could be a lot going on behind the scenes that we don't know about. For instance since Kelly's song is also raging up the charts right now the RCA team could well have a handshake agreement with radio to let them push Kelly's song now and lag a couple of weeks on Adam's so that both songs can peak without stomping on each other. The groundwork of support could be laid already. It really doesn't make sense for RCA to push radio on both songs simultaneously but back to back would be fine. So Kelly got a lot of adds early which makes sense because radio knows her well but if Adam's adds are a little late it's not a problem because a) it lets Kelly's song peak first and b) it puts the peak for Adam's song closer to album release.
The thing is there is no way for us to know the majority of the radio dealings as they are not and never will be public knowledge. All we can do is assume whether or not a push occurred by what happens on the charts. But remember that is still ASSUMPTIONS. Success on the charts doesn't PROVE a push any more than under performance PROVES no push. These are all assumptions that are made by fan bases and those so called experts on Pulse, etc. Unless you are working for radio or for the radio promo team you don't really know anything.

I added Kid Rocks song "Care" too as a maybe. Lob thinks it might be purged, which would leave BTIKM at #41.

Even more so than the spins, I am thrilled to see the AI going up. Adam has a higher AI than 3 songs above him on spins.
Looks like coming fast on his tails though is, Outasight.
I was foolishly hoping for one spin on Saturdsay Night On Line last night. Didn't get it!
ETA: Rhiannsu, I agree that we have no idea what RCA is doing behind the scenes. But waiting until album drop to push the single would be a HUGE mistake, IMO. That's too long... way too long, IMO. I am hoping for NYC visitis either this week or right after the EU visit.

Thanks Saga!!!  I'm hoping that everything will speed up once the add dates are past and the video is released. I wish he wasn't going to be in Europe then. I wonder if they are expecting radio to be difficult and want him to go big in Europe first. |

I don't know if I worded things wrong or you misunderstood but I'm not talking about waiting to push but pushing for the peak to coincide with the album drop. Naturally the work would have to come before that and as I said they are working Kelly's song too so since they streamlined the promo team all of this is happening at the same time really. Nothing wrong with RCA letting radio know that they would like Adam's song to peak around album drop. That IS the ideal scenario to maximize album sales. If they were pushing hard for radio to go gangbusters on the song right now that would put it in direct competition with Kelly who is also their artist. It makes perfect sense to me that RCA would want Adam's song to come along BEHIND Kelly's and to peak a little behind so as to avoid the songs interfering with each other on the charts. Both artists are best served that way. |

Kelly and Adam are not the only RCA artists with singles out there right now. RCA is working a lot more than Kelly. I only watch Kelly's rollout for comparison purposes of how they rollout their artists. Plus, I actually don't think Stronger needs that much work. It is a perfect Pop song.  I guess what I am trying to say is that I don't think Kelly's adds or sales have anything to do with Adam's. The songs are completely different and they both need fans outside of Idol to make these singles successful. I think and am hoping that they gave the single the long lead in time, so that the big stations would all add at once, like within the next 2 weeks. WWFM was spread out too much, which sounds like what you are saying they want to do with BTIKM. IMO, that would be a mistake. |
