That's what I say! It's population is deceiving (140,000) but it has Colorado State university!  That's another 30,000! Plus.... you can hear the station in Denver! Oh, wow! Even betterer!! |

BTW - What was the alt rock station that played BTIKM in DC? I didn't write them down and the counters must have reset now so maybe it was the week before but looking at the stations not added list today the only Richmond Alt rock station I see is WRXL and the DC one is WWDC. I had seen 1 spin for each of those stations when I checked the not added list. ETA: You know all the angsting about big market stations not adding is exactly the same kind of talk that went on with IIHY. Almost all of the early stage adds for IIHY were smaller market stations and stations he was visiting on tour. I don't think any of the big market stations added until after the MV release and I seem to remember RCAEd more or less confirming that they had things lined up but were waiting on the MV because Adam has such strong response on his videos. I for one am not willing to write this off until at least a week or two after the video drops. The video drops this Friday and then when he gets back from the European promo they probably have stuff lined up here. I would not be at all surprised if the bigger stations are being held back until the US promo gears up. If I had a nickel for every time WWFM and IIHY were declared dead as doornails by people online I would have a nice little tour fund. All the wailing and gnashing of teeth is not going to change any of RCA's plans so why waste the energy. Adam has been absolutely thrilled with his label to this point and I don't see anything but sheer excitement coming from him in interviews so I'm willing to trust that RCA has things under control. Time enough to analyze and criticized the rollout AFTER the song is done. I mean really and truly done not predictions. RCAEd is like that Toby Idiot! I believe about half of what they say!  Why analyze now? Because this is the numbers thread, which is a place where people analyze the numbers, adds, etc. We predict, project, celebrate and sometimes worry. I don't think the kind of discussions we have in this thread are dealt with very well in the main thread! Some of the members here at ATOP don't follow numbers, don't want to follow numbers and many of them don't follow pop radio or even radio at all. Many of them hardly listen to current music outside of Adam. In other words, it freaks some people out!  Spins are the ultimate goal! RCA is worrying me, though. There is a bullet on HAC, but it is not strong enough to counteract the fact that adds are not coming in. I am pretty sure that this is the slowest that adds have ever come in for one of Adam's singles. Typically, artists who had songs chart well their last era, should see a week or two of strong adds. HAC will not do the job on it's own, and right now even that is pretty slow. BTIKM needs to make a decent impact on Pop. I don't know what the eff RCA is thinking, but they really worry me! Could it pick up and turn around? Of course!! That doesn't mean I'm not wondering what the game plan is and worried that RCA doesn't have a very good one! |

Nobody's saying the single is done (it is clearly too early for that), but it is off to a slow start. And this is the LEAD single which generally gets the biggest label push and the most promotional opportunities. I do think with the video out on Friday and Adam possibly doing some US radio work that in a couple weeks we could see some results with adds. I don't have a lot of hope for tomorrow, though.

I'm grateful to rihannsu & myspenser for adding a positive spin to this thread. (And I don't use "spin" in a bad way). I'm seriously questioning RCA's strategy right now and this helps to lower my angst a few notches. I'm far from an expert but it seems to me there has been a very real lack of promo in the US for Adam this time around. Not to drag another Idol into this but even Cook got a lot more exposure (which didn't help him). Looking at my little world - B104, a big Adam supporter in the past, has cut back spins of BTIKM. And Q102 has not yet come on board. If they don't add today my worry will go back up a notch. I thought Maxwell was a big Adam supporter. :-/ So - I'm .5% less worried after having read your posts myspenser & rihannsu. So thanks! Hey - if even chunkeymonkey is angsting you know it's serious. LOLOLOL Just saw this on my twitter feed. It's something to remember & makes sense: "RCA spent a fortune on this album. Pharrell costs six figures as an advance per track. They want that money back." |

I read on the other thread that a big Chi HAC added and then....oh noes turns out it was just added to the request form. BOO. People need to READ and UNDERSTAND shit before they get errbody all excited for nothing.
And yeah I won't get excited over the fact that a station added it to their request form. Big freakin whoop.

Jazz, don't set yourself up for the ledge today. I would not be expecting Q to add today. They will add within th next few weeks, I'm sure. But I am not going to expect it today. I am going to hope for it today, though. I think the Dec release of the single just muddied up everything. If the single came out the first full week after the holidays, we'd be screaming, "OMG!! 36 adds before the official add date! " "It's #66 on CHR and 36 on HAC it just went for adds!!"" I've come to the conclusion that the Dec release had to be all about BFM. The bastards were sending that single to radio and touting it as Adam's new single. The ads for the album were claiming it to be Adam's new music. Even some radio people got confused. Have you noticed that BFM has totally disappeared since the single came out? It worked! That quote about Pharell is a good one. RCA wants this album to be huge. They would not have hooked Adam up with all these producers otherwise. RCA wants to make money on this album. That's their business. Also, the song is increasing in spins and AI so I'm just not sure where all the angst is coming form. If it was going down or staying stagnant, then I would start to worry. But until I see that CHR does not want to add it at all (which will take about 3 more weeks to see), I see nothing but good signs. |

And I also agree that there probably won't be a lot of adds today, but I hope there will be enough to start the song moving up the charts!!. Adam has not done much radio promo here yet. |

I agree. I always thought the speculation that it was released early as a "gift to fans" was silly. These things are done with a purpose and not just to throw a bone for fans.
You guys have accomplished what you set out to do - I am not expecting a lot of CHR adds today so i won't throw myself off the cliff if we don't get them. But I DO expect a few. Surely that's not too much to hope for? lol

I honestly think RCA is saving a lot of promo for album drop time. Which I think is good.
WTMX didn't add, but they gave the spin. That is huge for this station. Let's just start really requesting here, if you're local, to let them know we like the song. They aren't going to add anytime soon; that's just how they are. But we can get them spinning.
