OMG people, it was just an innocent comment, maybe not well thought out but did not want it to go down this road. Foot in mouth is one of my specialties, and this has nothing to do with money or lack there of or using Adam. Now I feel like a real idiot for posting! Going back to lurking for a while. Not a good way to start 2012!! Just a misunderstanding. We know you did not mean to insult Sauli, which it really wasn't. Translation difficulties will occur from time to time. Please remember to give people the benefit of the doubt. |

I am always the last one to notice anything going on with RL people around me, but... I think something has changed between these 2 guys. At first I thought it was just damage management after the incident, but it is over already. On the top of obvious, like using Adam's name, pictures and common signature, the tone in Sauli's blogs (both of them) is somehow more relaxed, confident , and also like, more independent. Can't really convey that into translations. Dear other native Finns, so you also have this feeling or is it just me? I was actually thinking the same when I was translating the blog "Sun". You're right, feelings aren't easily conveyed in the translation, and even though Zinnia and I try our best, sometimes the translation lacks the sentiments of the original. In the "Sun" blog, I definitely had the feeling of contentment, happiness, that of finding one's place in the world. Part of that is clearly written in the blog, but the way he's written it says more. And the same has continued with the later blogs. Maybe whatever happened lately has made them look at their relationship in a new way and given them new perspective to it. But whether this is true or just our imagination, our boys are happy!!!  First of all, you are doing superb job in your translations! But as said, everything just is not translating. Glad to hear you share my feeling. Hmm...we'll see. |

Purely a hunch on my part, but the photo looks like a hotel lobby to me (the floral arrangement). I'm going to goggle the Roosevelt, because IIRC, it has lots of dark wood interiors. ETA: Hmm, no. Roosevelt's interiors seem mostly plaster, not slat wood. Next thought, high-end Japanese restaurant - orchids, dark wood would be consistent with this. |
