We’ve just had Boris making an address to the nation! Seems the Omicron variant is out of control - set to be as bad as anything we’ve had before. The government has brought forward the booster jabs - campaign to get anyone over 18 ‘boosted’ as he says….and hoping to get everyone jabbed by the new year. Desperately trying to find walk-in clinics available to my kids in London. All feels rather dark. I’m sure Adam will be fully aware of the prevalence of this in London. Masks indoors are compulsory again. Stay safe, Adam.

I actually don't expect covid to end. I think we are stuck with learning to live with it and taking all precautions to make up for the reckless. (Like the band of adults and their little kids demonstrating against vaccines every Saturday at the post office.)
We all have to wear masks in church; I wear a mask in all stores. I'm part of the church choir, and we sing masked, albeit with "singer's masks" which have a bit more of a cage built out, so we're not sucking in fabric. For Lessons & Carols, instead of having brass musicians, the musical director engaged a string quartet. (Less air flow.)

Yup, I agree, it ain’t going away any time soon, the question is how bad the mutations are going to get. Feels like we are chasing our own tail… between the majority of the world population having no access and the anti-vaxxers we are all stuck. In terms of coping - I think having a home test (if available in your country) is very useful, especially if you get some cold symptoms and start getting nervous and don’t know if to isolate while waiting for the PCR test results. ( in the US should be covered by ins. starting Jan 1). Very interesting details on how your choir adapted! |

I'm not entirely convinced that this particular virus is one that we'll learn to live with. I think each variation will be worse than the one before until our vaccinations will be useless. This won't be the regular cold or flu at any point, IMO.
The only hope we have is to kill it off entirely, and there are too many factions interested in keeping it going. I don't see us getting rid of it any time soon.
Many more people are going to be dying.
Hope Adam is careful while he's in London.

This won't be the regular cold or flu at any point, IMO. The only hope we have is to kill it off entirely, and there are too many factions interested in keeping it going. My understanding is that Adam is going to London to be on Lorraine's show. Maybe other things, too. Hope he keeps careful and stays well.
I think we will be living with COVID for the long haul. We have been vaxing for @ 100 years for measles, mumps, diphtheria, polio a while later, a so on. People died in droves from these diseases until the vaccines were formulated. I think the COVID vaccine will join the other vaccines that are given in childhood, with boosters along the way. A proper dose will be created for children. I have faith that we will learn to control it like we have the other vaxed diseases. Hope so.
