gingerpf....well you just ranted for me. I hear ya. I DO NOT GET IT. Why not release the song when you've got the promo lined up to support it? Radio seems to be on board and once it starts spinning the hell out of the song, the sales will go up - but why did we have to go through this "flapping around in the breeze" period. Meh. I'm in a funk. (*cue the wrist slaps) Maybe it's to see if radio will get on board without all the slogging that he had to do last time. If he can do promo via twitter without flying to every five and dime station he's way ahead. He did a lot of promo with the stations while he was on GNT tour. Sadz for us since we lurve his interviews as much as his singing. But good for him if he can be more like Bruno Mars and not have to make appearances.

Melliemom & MyS*&@^#r - I'm sure you're right. I honestly don't remember what the promotion was like for WWFM, so we may well be in the same pattern & this is just normal procedure. I just got a little defensive over that article. And after all was said & done, WWFM was a HUGE hit. I still hear it played on the radio here. I use the term "radio" loosely - I live in a small town of 9,000 rednecks & we actually have a radio station here called The Mix 97.3. I think their staff consists of one guy. Maybe if I buy him a KFC bucket of fried chicken he might play BTIKM. ??? I thought that station was advertising a poll or something for it? Oops I have the wrong dial# - it's WWSL The Mix 102.3 that is the local station. Doesn't have a website. Can't listen online. Can't request on line. Alot of their broadcasting is local ads & obituaries. (Like I said, this town is REALLY small!) BUT I have to assume that because it's called THE MIX, it must have some affiliation with the bigger "MIX" group? Maybe they'll eventually get the add here.

I will never understand why Brian Mansfield at USA Today is such a passive aggressive asshole when it comes to Adam He gave the single numbers THIS week (but not last week even though I'm sure they were available to him) and had this to say about Adam: All the Idol tracks in SoundScan's list of the 200 top sellers saw double-digit percentage increases in their weekly sales. One track absent from the top 200: Adam Lambert's Better Than I Know Myself, in its second week of release.I really despise him. I don't see a problem with what Brian said. It is the 2nd week of release. It is not in the Top 200. Sure it brings the haters out and they start calling the song a flop, but I have no doubt we will have the last laugh. If this song isn't huge, I will eat my hat!! Exactly, and he only mentioned it because he knows he has a lot of Adam fans following and he wanted to explain why he didn't have numbers IMO. I think he can only get numbers under the Top 200 for country and other specialized segments. It doesn't necessarily even mean Adam's sales were bad this week, someone was saying the top 200 song sold around 20k last week. ETA: oh and pi I'm totally with you on the green smoothies, yummy and fill me with energy!

There is a free site where people monitor airplay of all songs. The name escapes me now. Do you mean yes.com? Ooo, thanks. I lost my bookmark for it a computer repair or so ago and was just searching for it. Yeah, it's fun. Type in Adams name in the channel search, then click on it. Not all stations get reported (or at least they didn't 2 years ago) but a lot will show up in real time.

The promo for this single was interupted by the holiday. I am expecting things to kick in next week. Really, I am a big angster (is that a word?) and I am going to be very Zen until the 3rd week of January. I'm thinking they set the album date and then worked backwards. Having the single add date at two months is what they wanted. Can't do that and give the song to the stations on Jan 9th (they'd have to wait till next week as we've seen a lot of pds were still gone this week). That would only give them a 2 week lead time to add date and the spins would have been weaker than they'd like. The pre-xmas release allowed people to touch, a few to spin, and I think as the spins have come in today etc. that the momentum is building. What do I know but this sounds completely reasonable to me. I assume all that's happening now is some taste testing and early adopting by some stations, and look for a sharp increase in official promo stuff right around the impact dates myself.

See if this makes you all feel better. For WWFM the first 3 weeks of sales totalled 31,000. If BTIKM sold 39,000 it's first week (yes, I believe the leak from Rene), it was already past 3 weeks of sales of WWFM! AMAZING for a song that has not even been performed yet!! WWFM is almost 2X Platinum and its first week of sales was 11,000! It's radio play that drives sales of Pop songs and the same thing will happen with BTIKM. Don't worry! Be happy! Thanks also for the list of station adds..I know little about adds, but I find this list very encouraging for a song that has had little to no promo, has only been out two weeks and over the biggest holiday season of the year. I am very pleased and totally optomistic that BTIKM will be HUGE! Canada represents!! Go Canada! Toronto..yeah!!

Actually you've made a good point Jablea - they can save ALOT of expense by not flying Adam all over the country for personal appearances. Phone interviews work just fine. Maybe that's part of the plan. So Adam can just stay home & drink his yukky green slog & talk on the phone. Works for me. ;D
