The year starts with typical low album sales
As we approach the release of Adam's new album, I have been starting to collect the numbers needed to do a sales forecast. And since we will certainly have a competition to forecast TRESPASSING's first week's sales units for the US, I thought I would share a few of those numbers with you. Here is the HDD album sales forecast for the week ending 1/2/12 sales in the US.

Expect an avalanche of new CDs in '12

But what about albums? Younger folks say, "What about them?" They digest music on a song-by-song basis; the album is dead. But not for old curmudgeons like me. I still enjoy hearing an artist's entire CD from start to finish.
Early 2012 will offer new albums from a couple of Beatles and tunesmith Leonard Cohen. McCartney plows the standards field with "My Valentine," due out Feb. 7. "Ringo 2012" arrives Jan. 31, the same day as Cohen's "Old Songs." Cohen turns 78 in September, but keeps plugging along. Ringo's CD includes contributions from Joe Walsh, Edgar Winter, Benmont Tench, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Van Dyke Parks.
Look for the 40th anniversary edition of the Doors' classic "L.A. Woman" on Jan. 24, including one unreleased song ("She Smells So Nice") with Jim Morrison on vocals, plus alternate takes.
Also due Jan. 24: "Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan," a three-CD set that kicks off with "One Too Many Mornings" by Johnny Cash and the Avett Brothers, and includes Bryan Ferry, Steve Earle, Lenny Kravitz, Queens of the Stone Age, Pete Townshend, My Morning Jacket, Lucinda Williams, Dave Matthews Band and, for reasons which escape us, Miley Cyrus and Ke$ha.
Tim McGraw, who will tour with Kenny Chesney later in 2012, releases "Emotional Traffic" on Jan. 24. The surprise here: A collaboration with Ne-Yo on "Only Human."
Van Halen's reunion CD with David Lee Roth arrives Feb. 7. Will the magic return? Buffalo hard-core band Every Time I Die releases "Ex Lives" on March 6 on Epitaph. Gotta love the title of the first single: "Underwater Bimbos From Outer Space." Joe Baressi (Melvins, Queens of the Stone Age) produced the CD, its first since 2009's "New Junk Aesthetic."
January and February also offer releases from Seal, Dion, Ani DiFranco, Lamb of God, Joe Cocker, the Fray, the Cranberries, Lyle Lovett, Sleigh Bells, Dierks Bentley and Silverstein. Look for Adam Lambert's next CD, "Trespassing," in March, along with the Shins' "Port of Morrow."
2012 will also bring reunion CDs from the Beach Boys, Black Sabbath (produced by Rick Rubin) and possibly Soundgarden, though no dates are set yet. Look for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band to return with a new CD in March or April, when they hit the road again.

Adam Lambert Online Petition Calls On NFL To Book Lambert For The Super Bowl
By On Top Magazine Staff
Published: January 04, 2012
An online campaign is calling for Adam Lambert to perform the National Anthem at the 2012 Super Bowl.
The fan “Twitition” (a petition circulated largely around Twitter) argues that the Indianapolis native would “captivate millions of hearts” if he were booked to sing at football's biggest contest, which is being held this year in his hometown.
“He should definitely perform in his hometown at the SuperBowlXLVI on February 5, 2012,” reads the campaign, which had attracted 666 signatures as of Wednesday morning. “He is the consummate perfectionist & his musical flawlessness will captivate millions of hearts.”
Recently, the Indianapolis Super Bowl host committee invited the American Idol alum to join the festivities. “Hey, @adamlambert! Will you be joining us in your #hometown for Super Bowl XLVI?” the committee said in a December 19 tweet.
The National Football League (NFL) is responsible for booking all of the event's entertainment.
Last month, Lambert released the track Better Than I Know Myself, the first single from his highly-anticipated sophomore album Trespassing, which is due in March.

2011—the best of a non-vintage year

Worse, for the last 12 months the music industry slid deeper into the shitter. Sony dissolved/consumed lower-rung labels Arista, J and Jive Records (homes to Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Usher, and Alicia Keys) as a matter of corporate tightening. Many, if not most, of the tours that came through town featured artists performing without new music to support, grabbing the cash at the gate with zero production costs. Also, it got way harder to sell out arenas, with tickets going on sale months in advance. Even American Idol, the artificial barometer of the pop zeitgeist in the wake of Adam Lambert, seemed dull and buzz-less.

This Week’s Hotness: Adam Lambert And Sauli Koskinen Vs. Neil Patrick Harris And David Burtka
Wednesday, January 4th, 2012
Last week, when we posted our list of the 30 cutest non-Robsten couples of 2011, a number of you spoke up for a write-in couple (which, with Russell and Katy over, we definitely have an opening there): Adam Lambert and his boyfriend of one year (and partner in crime), Finnish reality-TV vet Sauli Koskinen.
But we can’t make things THAT easy for you, Glambert fans. We thought we’d stir the pot a little more and bring the Weekly Hotness poll back from its winter hiatus. So we present to you this special couples’ edition, pitting Adam and Sauli against that other perennially adorable example of true love: Neil Patrick Harris and fiance David Burtka.
On the one hand, Adam, 29, and Sauli, 26, are undeniably gorgeous, and they look good together too. Plus their shared background in reality TV must have made for good conversation when they first hooked up.
On the other, Neil, 38, and David, 36, have the cuteness factor in their favor — especially when you include their 1-year-old twins, Gideon and Harper. They’ve also got longevity, having been together since 2004. Also, who can vote against Doogie?
But we’ll let you be the judge. Peruse the gallery and vote before the poll closes Friday at 1 p.m. ET.

Birthdays and the Adamtopia Calendar
As of now, if you want your birthday to appear on the Adamtopia calendar (link at top of page) and on the home page on your birthday, you must unhide your age on your Member profile.
>>One option is to unhide your age before midnight ET on your birthday. Then rehide it after your birthday is over -- until next year. So you will only have to reveal your age for one day. (Thanks Houselady for this great suggestion.)
If you made up a birthday when you registered, it cannot be changed and you will need to open up a new member account to change to your proper birthday OR just accept your new birthday.
