Yes, it is totally different than it was during FYE phase, certainly in this early stage of single promotion. It also is much more wide-spread. I think that Q102 and also Sophie were both already around in those days, but many others were not.

But as much as I would like to attribute that to the wonders of BTIKM and Adam himself, I do have to say that I think there is a bit more in play than just that.

a) The proliferation of twitter and the universal acceptance and understanding of twitter as a promotional tool has progressed and reached even the most conservative marketing department by now. Two years ago that was not yet the case.

b) Companies and therefore also radio stations have learned to do effective data mining. i.e. Q102 ran multiple contests during the off season and let us Glamberts vote on something, does not even matter on what. The important part is, they got our twitter names and user names and such lists help them now to understand whether BTIKM is only requested by the same old Glamberts, or whether they are getting requests from new folks. Its the latter group that will eventually decide how successful the song ultimately will be. So, btw, if you have a second email or twitter user or a electronic device not hooked into your network that you can use for requesting - please do.

c) Radio has started to understand in at least a few locations that the very localized thinking is a thing of the past. If you can be heard online, you will have listeners online - at least you would hope - and therefore you are not local anymore. A few radio stations have adjusted to that and playing nationally and beyond. I think many more are presently remaining local and then obviously, as Q3 keeps pointing out, we should respect that.

d) Radio has become a bit more familiar with the craze that is us Glamberts. They know now how to play to us and how to engage us, and they don't react as overwhelmed or even threatened as they seemed to have been on occasion during round 1. Still probably wise to tread carefully though on our part. But if they are running mock contests to attract our attention, it shows that they are not as freaked out anymore as they used to be. The Glamberts have developed also a certain positive reputation beyond our "enthusiasm" in the music industry by now.
Remember they used to totally underestimate us, peg us in a ton of unpleasant ways. You don't get that anymore, those stereotypes are gone.

Adam himself of course is now more established, has the word-of-mouth ahead of him re 'Trespassing being a great album' and now comes with this lead single that is very radio friendly. He has established himself as outstanding vocalist with a sustained and enthusiastic fan base, he is an artist who is marketable, bankable and can sell out tours, he has got a few very high profile performances under his belt, especially the EMAs and he has a continuous track record of creating headlines in the media. He also has established a network in the industry.
All adds up to a very different situation for him and a different environment in the radio market overall, hopefully the two together will bring the anticipated success for the single and album.
