Starstruck to return to ITV for second series after wowing bosses with ratings smash

ITV singing contest Starstuck is set to come back for a second series next year after bosses were said to be happy with the impressive ratings of its debut on screens

Hit singing contents Starstruck is set to return for a second season after going down well with viewers.

The show has been a ratings smash for ITV on Saturday nights.

And after a secret meeting, bosses at the channel have agreed to commission another run to air next year.

A show insider said: “It was a pretty easy decision. The show has struck a chord with viewers and it’s been a big success.

“They would have been mad not to commission another series.”

The execs are hoping panellists Jason Manford, Adam Lambert, Beverley Knight and Sheridan Smith will all return.

And they want Olly Murs to be back as host, too. My insider added: “The line-up has worked well, so everyone will be offered a contract for the new series.

“Execs are hoping they’ll all be able to do it.”

Starstruck brought back the magic of iconic show Stars In Their Eyes by getting tribute acts to compete.

And they were impersonating acts of all ages, so there has been something for everyone.

I’m not remotely surprised it has been a big hit.

It doesn’t take itself too seriously and is a lot of fun – just like The Masked Singer and Saturday Night Takeaway.

With everything that’s happening, we could all do with some silly TV to enjoy on a Saturday night.

Meanwhile, viewers have been left fuming by the news that the final has been pushed back a week by ITV due to sports.

Seems likely that Adam will sign on again for Starstruck's second season. My guess is that the pay is good, and it doesn't take much time to film a season. Seems like he's been a major draw for the show.

It was fun to see and hear Oliver is that little interview. It's the first time I've heard him talk even that much. He seems like a happy, good-natured, knowledgeable guy (just like Adam). No wonder they get along so well.

So glad that Starstruck is a success. I also hope Adam comes back. He is very good.

Fingers crossed that Adam's Florida and Atlanta shows are great and fun for Adam and fans. Other than Vegas, it has been a while since fans have seen him live in action. He has made very good use of his time with good projects leading up to the QAL European Tour. Nice treat and exposure.
