Today’s thread title makes me wonder: When did the UK leave Europe? Never. The European leg of the tour started in Belfast last month, whatever some British people may call it. 😁 You are absolutely right, of course….…. Made me think why I always say ‘U.K. and Europe’. I think we Brits have been brought up on the idea of ‘Continental Europe’, to which we don’t belong! When I was young, we went on holidays to ‘the Continent’ (anywhere in Continental Europe - not U.K.) I had a ‘Continental Europe Rail Pass’ as a student (for use in Europe but not the U.K). it’s just a clarification for a lot of us to still say the U.K. and Europe. Like if QAL announced a new European Tour I’d be anxious to know if it was the U.K. as well Just found this on Wikipedia which says it better….or perhaps it just makes more clear why we Brits sometimes need to clarify. Continental Europe or mainland Europe is the contiguous continent of Europe, excluding its surrounding islands. It can also be referred to ambiguously as the European continent, – which can conversely mean the whole of Europe – and, by some, simply as the Continent.
But I am very pro- European and in these times, we have to stick together! Isnt IT more a Point of geopolitics rather than a Point of physical geographic realities? I feel Like this wording (uk and Europe) came Up with brexit. IT's officially used in the News Here in Germany.

We should also see it from Queen's point of view - UK is their home, and continental Europe is abroad for them. So it feels natural to split this part of the tour into two legs at least mentally. I also wonder whether there are other logistical implications - for example, do the UK trucks drive through Europe or do they switch to trucks with left driver seat?

kryptoman68 . Don’t know about the trucks. Somehow I think they’d be the same ones because it’s perfectly legal. But we are always the U.K.and Europe in everything. The tour would be no different because if you are a Brit that’s how it is! Not a Brian and Roger/Queen thing. My best guess is that it’s because we aren’t part of mainland Europe. marionm . We have always been the U.K. and Europe…all my life…which stems from considerably before Brexit. LindaG23 . A neat geographical summing up…probably best said from the safety of Alaska
