We all want Adam to sing the SSB at the super bowl. We want him to be on Saturday Night Live and Glee, have a fashion line, product endorsement/sponsorship, calendars, posters, jewelry.... maybe even an electric toothbrush like the Biebs? We want him to be ubiquitous. We are puzzled how such a charismatic, talented, articulate, gorgeous man is not being sought after by the marketing people.
I realized recently that I have made a huge assumption.... that he isn't being offered opportunities. Logically, with the obvious fan power of the Glamberts, that assumption seems silly. I think it is much more likely that Adam has made a very conscious choice to focus on his music and performance. He is very serious about his craft. He wants to establish his credibility in that area and cement it for longevity. Perhaps he doesn't want to be an industry. Doesn't want to lend his name and image to a bunch of hype products designed to make a shitload of money as fast as possible before the public moves on to the next big thing. I don't think Adam was primarily focused on being FAMOUS. He was always focused on making music, performing, sharing, being accepted for who he is and what he can do, and, making a living at it. The fame is a unavoidable by-product for him, I think. But, not the goal.
If that is why we are not seeing Adam's face on toothbrushes and lunch boxes, Adam's name on a line of greeting cards (Taylor Swift) and make-up, then I applaud Adam's vision and integrity. I'm gonna say that it's a good thing, and stop worrying that the industry still refuses to give Adam his due.
Just some random thoughts rattling around in my brain as I wait for the MV and Ellen.
