OMG!! Love that grocery-shopping pic!!! My sister was over for a visit last night, and she brought up something kind of interesting… She likes Adam, but she’s a very casual/passive fan and relies on me to pass on all Adam info. Anyhow, when she was here yesterday she spent some time reading stuff on ATop, and was amazed at all the Sauli information, and the seemingly universal love, praise, and acceptance of Adam’s hot boyfriend. Anyhow, after she was done reading, she said, “You know, if Adam were straight, and Sauli was a “Sally” = a hot little blue-eyed blond-haired girl, the whole tone of ATop would be different… There would be snarkiness and a whole lot of jealousy and a whole lot of protectiveness towards Adam, as in, “Bitch, you better not hurt my guy, or I’ll hunt you down!” She said it would be just like the whole Justin Beiber/Selena Gomez situation where Selena was universally hated and even received threats from Beiber fans… And I was like---> I dunno… Do you think that’s true? Would we be way more critical of a "Sally" and more protective about Adam? This has been my thought since the beginning. My sister said to me years ago when we were discussing a guy I was dating and how much she liked him, "If he was a girl, I'd probably be bitching about her all the time." The bottom line is probably that since he/she is not seen as "the competition" it is easier to accept the significant other. As for me, he says, slinking away, I am well aware that I am not Adam's type so it softens the blow of feeling rejected. Some days I have to use the "a long distance relationship is too difficult" line, but most days I'm fine. )) And thank you in advance for not mentioning that Finland is further away than Georgia or Florida.

Interesting, that you all hear WWFM in stores. I am hearing the same thing in Georgia and also in NY when I was there at Christmas. I am actually hearing that song more now than I heard it on the radio when it was at it height in radio stations spins. That song will not die. Damn he looks gorgeous grocery shopping. Always dressed for the occasion. Same thing here. The local top 40 radio station almost never played WWFM when it was a "hit." Just yesterday, they played it twice within a matter of hours. Wish it had been BTIKM, but, that will happen in time. Somehow, Adam has finally become "credible." I love it.

It was pointed out that Brooke was behind Adam in this gif, but I can't help but think the guy on his left looks like Taylor Green. Especially towards the end of the gif. Am I just seeing things? As for WWFM, my husband heard it at the Gateway Plaza, an outdoor mall in SLC. It was playing while he was walking from one store to another on their outdoor piped music. I happened to call him while it was playing and he let me listen to it for a moment. [/quote]

I agree, the fandom dynamics would've been totally different, with much more negativity. So, Adam is one universal perfection - the "gay" thing is just one additional gift! like everything else about him ;D (Totally OT, but the Biebs/Selena were mentioned before - and I want to say that IMO (and I am emphasising the "IMO") - their romance is manufactured, as well as their 'break up" and the getting back together.... I know nothing, just my gut feel) reihmer - you owe us 8 Adam pictures ;D I know it is a breeze for you - so, please post. I am so happy to see that gorgeous coat and the bestest medges (I adore these) used in MV! And he is obviously "acting" - another BB's talent I am looking forward to witnessing! WOW! Excitement is in the air!

All kinds of goodness on the thread today. Jumping into the deep end for a minute, the final part of Angelina's program on OOL, where she talks to Phillipa about the lyrics, has been expanded from the original. Not only is the analysis of the artistry of the lyrics discussed, but, then they go on to talk about the images of being outlaws because of one's sexuality. Phillipa reads parts of a poem written by Oscar Wilde after he had been imprisoned for being homosexual. They discuss how people try to legislate certain lifestyles and beliefs, and how cruel and destructive that is, not only to the person persecuted, but to those who have to carry out the punishment. A very deep and thought provoking discussion. Prompted by AFL. Not as fun or light-hearted as talking about the GB, but very interesting and touching. When you have time, check it out.

While in most cases I would subscribe to the idea that this type of jealousy would occur there are places where it doesn't. The U2 boards I have hung out on have had none of these issues with the band members significant others/wives. Most of them actually have voluntarily put off limits any kind of speculation about the band members families and relationships. But lots of love is shown to Bono and Edge's wives who are the fairly visible ones. Larry's longtime partner is rarely photographed and has no public profile as do Bono and Edge's wives so she is rarely talked about. However none of that inhibits any of the lusting after band members that yes still is going strong even though the guys are much older and shall we say road worn. Long before the glambulge there was Elevated Bono. Those threads on the U2 boards saw quite a bit of action. Just as you have Adommy in our world there are plenty of fanvids of Bono and Edge with a very homoerotic slant. Many are intro'd with apologies to Ali and Morleigh (wives) but these two are HOT together. Of course Ali talks about sending her husband (Bono) off on tour with his second wife (Edge) so that kind of fuels the fire. As wonderful as this Sauli love is it is not actually an isolated case. Just as the whole bromance and fanfic pairing thing is not new. ETA: I will agree it is quite rare but as U2 have spent the last 30 years singing about love and unity much as Adam talks about love and acceptance that may be the significant factor in the fans reactions.
