I missed this from the other day, and I don't see any comments on it. Thought I would share it again. Baby Adam would be unrecognizable except for the most ardent Glamberts! youtu.be/GsUeH91UDd8

A few days ago we had a discussion about what Freddie would have sounded like live if he were alive today. I had to remind myself what he sounded like live when he was still around. So today I forced myself to listen to the legendary Queen at Wembley concert from 1986. Just the Spotify audio. You know, the one the A-YOs segment before the encore of the QAL shows was taken from... First of all, if Adam would give that type of live vocal performance at a QAL show, he would get crucified by the Queen fans, his own fans, the media, everyone. After 90 minutes I had to switch to Live Around The World to clear my ears and could not finish the whole thing. Second, I had not noticed that the A-YOs were edited, leaving only the good parts. Third, in the middle of the missing part, Freddie admits "I cannot go any higher than that... Let's go down...". It was a G#4, if I am not mistaken. Vocal range my a$$. youtu.be/Xjh3-JE0S-A?t=92

@kryptoman. Thinking of whether fans just want to see and hear their heroes, however their voices have deterioted….does the legend, however exaggerated, overcome all?
Would the long term fans really want Freddie up there at 75, under any circumstances?
This is very recent Axel Rose. There has been a lot of criticism of his voice for some time but people still buy tickets. He is loved.
I don’t know the answer to this. Would we still want to see Adam perform if, God forbid, his voice was no longer there?
Suggest start this video at about 0.45 for the singing.

I have no problem with the love part, in fact I have been a fan of Freddie since my childhood and still consider myself one. I love his song writing, spirit, performance energy, design work, etc. I am just constantly surprised how the Mandela Effect seems to cause other Freddie fans (and especially the journalists writing about QAL) to misremember how good he was (or wasn't) live for a large part of his life. As for the Adam speculative question, I am here for the voice, but like the rest too. If the voice were gone, I suspect I would be too.

kryptoman68. . I suspect I would be gone too. If only because it would be too sad to see. But thinking in terms of Adam gives me a greater understanding of why some Freddie fans feel so strongly about him being, what they think of, as ‘replaced’. No one could replace Adam with Queen either. (And yes, I agree totally with your point that Freddie’s voice ‘live’ has been very overhyped and not a patch on you-know-who)

Adam once said, "It's not about the voice," when he was asked about what makes some singers successful and some not. He's right. Many singers are fantastic performers but don't have great voices. It's the whole package that fans love. Brian and Roger have said that Adam's voice is technically "better" than Freddie's. No argument from me there. And they said that Adam has more vocal stamina that Freddie did. But Freddie was Freddie. Unique in every way. If he was performing today, his fans would adore him just as much. Just like Axl Rose's fans, and many more.
Unlike Freddie, Adam's voice is consistently just as good live as it is on recordings.
I think Adam's voice just might retain its quality for the long haul. He's a trained singer, uses techniques to help his voice stay healthy. I will always listen to him and follow him regardless. He's interesting to me for more than his singing alone.

I adore Adam, but without the amazing voice, I don't know if I would keep following him. I'm so, so happy that he takes such great care of his instrument and hopefully will be able to sing for many, many more years.
I understand that singers get older, but I think it's sad to see so many older performers struggling...looking at you, Rod. When you end up talking more than singing, I think it may be time to consider retirement.
I do realize the devotion to Freddie, but I think his prowess in singing has been WAAAAAAY exaggerated IMO. The claim that he's the best singer ever with the largest range sounds a bit like "wishful thinking" lol.
