There are definitely similarities, but, IMO, it is not Adam. Just not sure I can explain it. This singer is not pushing or straining his voice like many singers do, but Adam does not. However, the tone or timbre of his voice is different. It doesn't have as much ring, ping, bright, almost happy sound that Adam's does. Technically, he is not focusing the tone in the mask, or front of the face and sinuses. His tone is focused further back in his mouth, so it sounds a little more.... can't explain it, a little more swallowed??? I think that we will have to wait for the Adam cut to compare. Also, when the singer goes up to the highest note, he flips into a very light head voice/falsetto that is not as powerful as the rest of the line. Adam will sometimes do that, also, if it fits lyrically or emotionally, but, I don't see any reason to do it at this point, except that the singer probably cannot hit the note in full voice.
I totally agree with your analysis, Cassie, The first time I heard it was on my iphone (not thru headphones) I thought it was Adam, but was a very tinny sound & couldn't really tell.
Then I listened again on my computer through headphones and thought it definitely wasn't Adam. The tone is different, and yeah the falsetto part is definitive proof IMO.... But I still liked what I heard, and I can't wait to hear Adam sing it - with piano from what Byron said!!!!
Someone at MJ's, when this vid first surfaced, actually indentified the voice and a lot of people agreed with them. It was an obscure Country singer though so I do not remember the name. :-/
