Before the topic gets too old, I just want to say that I really enjoyed those two opera guys. Sure, they are looking at technique and subtly in the Adam's performance, BUT, they also love and respect him as a singer in general. And that says a lot. They are familiar with his QAL and solo performances, too. Maybe they did not know that there were just two performances of ND, and it was not on the setlist every night. But still, their comments really taught me a lot.

I was watching CMT last night. I rarely watch country but it is obvious that so many country artists do well because they still have an outlet for their videos. Plus Country radio puts them in regular rotation and they don't allow anyone to stay at the top more than a week or two, so many get those #1 songs. And there is a country award show on seems every month. They even have one show on tv every year called Country Rocks and Carrie Underwood gets to pretend she is a rocker, lol. When was the last time there was a tv show devoted to actual rockers?
When Adam had videos on the MTV countdown shows and other video shows, he did well. It was not only the music for him but he was also so handsome and popular on those shows. I would tune in regularly just to see his videos. And non-fans got to see him too and I'm sure some became fans. The Top 20 countdown show disappeared first and Adam was in the top 20 often. But then the other daily video shows were shut down and I last saw him on them in the middle of the Ghost Town video run. When those shows were gone (I believe they still had some MTV rap video shows) he was at the mercy of radio or later depending on a label getting him on big streaming playlists.

Adam has a "team," right? We hear about his team from time to time. I'm not sure exactly what this team does. Without COVID happening, Adam's Velvet may have been strong enough to chart some songs. And his aborted tour with Xtina would have surely given him some visibility to a broader audience. I think Velvet has some very strong songs. But that's history now. His next album will be the one from the musical, written with a group of writers. It's not a solo album although he will be the vocalist on the album. If the whole project succeeds, that album could be a strong one. And then he says there is "other" music to come. Given decent exposure, Adam's music does pretty well, and he makes the media rounds. The whole process changes so fast from year to year. As for country music, they are their own entity. They support new artists, and as you say, they rotate the music on playlists to give everyone a chance. I'm no country music fan, but they sure do take care of their own. And the multitude of country music award shows makes sure that lots of artists get awards, hence enhancing their cred. Pop is a lot more cutthroat.

I would not call it cutthroat as it is more same, same, same. Really young artists. Pop Divas. Rap Artists. Songs by certain artists that get played no matter what, lol. My point was I always thought Adam had more to offer than the traditional generic pop and being on MTV gave him that additional exposure. And I agree that Velvet had some very strong songs but Covid did not keep him off the radio. They played who they wanted to play as they always did. Maybe if a label pushes him to genres that are not so youth oriented, he may have a chance to chart but not betting on that happening. Likely mostly only his fans will hear his music. And last I saw, Xtina was playing the same size venues as Adam and barely on the radio herself nowadays. So I doubt she would have caused much to happen other than together they could play larger venues. But I think it would have been fun. And yes, I think he will get some tv exposure like always when he has new music so something to look forward to.

I keep checking for Reactions to Adam's performances and just ran across Lady Luck Club's "Live Reaction from Your Favorite Artists!" I don't know when it was uploaded. There are several performances of Adam, including one of my favorites - "Cuckoo" from Fantasy Springs 2012. It was FANTASTIC in person. He even does a tease with a wink and nod to Sauli who was in the audience. It starts at 20:00 ENJOY!!!!!!!!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=buTwcWVTulo

Broadway on Demand is advertising this. Sounds like something Adam would enjoy!
Dorian: The Musical 48-HOUR RENTAL The exciting new production gives Oscar Wilde's classic a Glam, modern twist with a newly composed score that sears through the action, propelled by influences from Bowie to Brecht. A rock star, trapped in eternal adolescence, wants to change the course of his life and discover love. But, can you find love if you've sold your soul to the Devil?
