I like to think of people here at Adamtopia as having good sportsmanship. i.e. being gracious about those who are not at Adam's talent level. I like to think of people here as that little bit more empathetic and more capable of putting themselves in other people's shoes. I also really like to think that, considering we all have weaknesses, we do not pick on others like so many at other forums do (some are like lions in a Roman arena, or vultures in the desert) Huge kudos to Durbin for his fight and his courage to get where he is. He has a mild social problem. It is mild but it is very real. Just as Adam is wired the way he has been wired. Durbin is wired the way he is and had no choice in the matter. This is a personal request, not an Adamtopia requirement. Please lets not be like the others out there who pick on those not at Adam's level, and the more vulnerable, but rather be the one's who get it. Durbin is more vulnerable. I am not feeling sorry for him. It is a fact. It is truly unsportsmanlike to pick on people in general. But when you represent the winner, the best of the best, which Adam is when it comes to vocals, being and entertainer, and social abilities, all the more reason to be kind and gracious about those who are not at that level. Another lesson we can learn from Adam himself. I respect your opinion, but I'm not entirely in agreement with you. James is a singer and his performances are subject to the same critical reaction as other singers, disability or no. Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder were not exempt from criticism of their music because of their disabilities'; their musical performances were judged on what they delivered on stage. And that is the way James should be judged as well, IMO. If Adam tweets that a performance by James is "great", I think the folks here have a right to express their agreement or disagreement, just as they would with any other artist. I do believe that personal slurs are uncalled for, but I don't think anyone here is doing that. Sorry for disagreeing -- no offense intended! No offense taken at'all. I am not talking about expressing agreement or disagreement with Adam or critiquing his vocals. I think people know what I am talking about. I am NOT judging people here. And I am NOT a pollyanna. Just requesting we be aware. And again, it is simply a request.

Good Lord are we really hashing it out about whether it's okay to say if we think a performance or a music artist sucks or not? Why we gotta be so damn pc? They put themselves out there in the public eye and being judged comes along with the territory. Hell everyone is judged everyday by everyone, the only thing is that we aren't famous so no one takes to the web to endlessly discuss it (Let me tell you people could have written an OPUS about how crappy I looked the other day if I was famous. Just sayin lol)
MY NAME IS CHUNKEY AND I THINK DURBIN SUCKS AND IS A MEDIOCRE SINGER AT BEST.
There. Is anyone scandalized? If so....oh well. IMO anyone who tries to play nice to everyone and make everyone happy and never try to get anyone upset is boring. And their Mama thinks they are boring too.
WE ONLY LIVE ONCE PEOPLE!!! WE SHOULD NOT STAND FOR SUCKAGE! WE SHOULD LET OUR VOICES BE HEARD!!1

Well, James should be thrilled with Adam's endorsement. Checking James Twitter, he's added around 50 new followers since Adam's Tweet and it's continuing to go up. Here's an example of those tweeting him:

www.eska.pl/hotplota/news/adam_lambert_i_sauli_koskinen_na_romantycznej_randce_zdjecia_adam_lambert/59310Polish site Eska.pl: Adam Lambert & Sauli Koskinen on a romantic date! Pictures. Further evidence that the relationship of Adam & Sauli Koskinen is blossoming! See photos from their restaurant date@ Adam Lambert Sauli Koskinen are one of the most romantic couples in Hollywood. Almost always they are together. Together they spent Christmas, New Year's Eve at sunset, joint shopping trips. Yesterday, the singer of the hit "Better Than I Know Myself" and his boyfriend went to dinner at a sushi restaurant in Hollywood, and then took a long walk. They have to enjoy life while they have time:). When March comes and his album "Trespassing" is released, Adam Lambert will certainly be very busy. In the end, it is the most awaited album of the year. See new photos of Adam Lambert and Sauli Koskinen. As we watch them we feel that this pair does not have any issues with gay relationships, as evidenced by the song "Outlaws of Love" from "Trespassing". t.co/xTCDFqWB

Wait, JD had something to say about Adam's hair?!? What? Where? I think I remember someone asking him about the Queen appearance and not sure what he said about that but then said Adam's hairdo was UGLY. I think I saw it on Twitter, not sure, was few weeks ago. Thanks, I remember it now (sort of). The interviewer really tried to bait him, and he responded with "I've better haircut" or something. So it wasn't too bad, and I forgot about it.

Hey, I worked for a print publisher and had to triple type something to get justified margins back in the day! I like to think I'm pleasantly anachronistic ;D I did that too, on a good ol' IBM Executive Typewriter! ;D ETA: Psst: You'd be happier with your avi if you changed the proportions to 66 wide by 100 tall.Oh, thanks so much, JustKaren. I should have thought to ask the Queen of Pleasing Proportions.

I agree, but sometimes it's fun to be bitchy. ;D. I think each of us has some type of "non-normal" about us, whether diagnosed or not. That being said, I think the Durbs could broaden his vocab. DurbinRock James Durbin @ @erikonthex Im always nice to assholes like you but..YOU CAN GO FUCK YOURSELF! People like you make me love what I do! Rock n roll fucker! I love you skylar...and you have a very kind heart, but...no, I have no qualms about criticizing someone who speaks like that. Yes, my issue with Durbs really isn't his singing/performance, it's his utter lack of self-awareness. THAT is what makes him fodder for comedy. And I've LOLled many a LOL with Chunkey's satires. Sorry, they are extremely funny. When I worked nights, I used to watch a lot of late night TV – loved Conan's old Late Night and at times I used to wonder what makes some people perfect comedy fodder while others are not. My conclusion: self awareness or lack thereof. Conan made "gay jokes" about Clay for years and got tons of mileage out of them. I've always been an advocate, but still thought they were often very funny because the humor was not based in the fact he was gay, but the fact that he denied it. This is why Adam is rarely the target of the same jokes and when he is, they're rarely funny. Because they are not attacking his lack of self-awareness. They are attacking him. The difference is subtle, yet profound. When Obama was elected, almost all of the political comedians commented at some point about being panicked that they were going to struggle to find material with him. After eight years of George Bush as a clueless yokel jokes, what were they going to do with someone who was smart, articulate, easy-going, who doesn't cheat on his wife or stick his foot in his mouth every other day? I freely admit. I find JD very entertaining because my perception of him is someone who is too egotistical to realize he is in over his head. If it was just a lack of talent or experience, that's always understandable, but cussing out a DJ/PD because he critiqued your performance was a douchey move by any standards. (Especially when the guy did NOT tweet James directly; he was stating his honest reaction in the moment.) Maria1 used the analogy of Chris Brown in reference to Adam (a post I totally agree with, BTW – regardless of fault, in the public eye, Adam did absolutely right thing to take ownership). The reason why people are very slow to forgive CB is his utter lack of self-awareness and/or genuine remorse, IMO.

I liked James Durbin when he got started on Idol. I hope he is finding enough audience/support to continue his career sucessfully and support his family. And I also thought Adam called it correctly when he noted on his twitter, at a certain point, that James might benefit from not ALWAYS going to the "wail" on the show, and so began that kinda bumpy "relationship" James and Adam had via twitter, interview comments, Adam's mentor appearance, more twitter, more interview comments, etc.
I think Adam wanted to and did reach out to Durbin but was wary 'cuz he wasn't clear about how James was responding to him. Especially that awkward "career advice" convo they had. (I sort of secretly hoped they would have lunch while completely understanding why and that they likely would not.)
I think Adam does appreciate Durbin's raw talent, and I think Adam is sophisticated enough to understand Durbin doesn't "do" sophisticated, but I've seen no indication that Durbin is mean or hateful (his swipe on Adam's hair was nothing compared to some of what I read by Adam's own fans!) - to me Durbin seems basically friendly.
I think Adam's kind enough to know that twitter hate is ugly. And James has evidently been getting a lot.
Doesn't bother me that Durbin tweeted "fuck off" to a radio guy (I think that guy's a dj, anyway) who tweeted to him that he was "horrible." It's utterly impolitic, but what he did in a way fits with Adam's advice in that "Aftermath" intro he did about people saying, no, no, no to you.
Now, I could of course be COMPLETELY wrong. Adam could have tweeted what he did as a snarky dig, closer to his comment about Subo's "Wild Horses" than to his usual "fan boy" tweets. But that's not how I choose to look at it or Adam. And if I'm wrong, I of course still love him anyway 'cuz there's too much else about him to love.
