DancyGeorgia, that jacket looks amazing! Can't you just wear it the way it is? Yea, but with what? I should have been more clear that I'm not trying to change the jacket, but rather how do I use it as part of a costume.

I bought this green velvet jacket and am thinking about how to turn it into a costume for one of the Las Vegas shows. Any ideas? ETA: I am not trying to change the jacket. I am trying to figure out how to use it as part of a costume. What can I be wearing this jacket- a witch, a pirate, etc? What could I wear it with, accessorize it, to form a Halloween costume? A full ruffled neck and possibly cuffs with a brooch at the neck or on the jacket.

Hm, If that shirt was a bright purple, it would be the inverse of the Velvet album cover.

Hey, Dancy…the first thing I thought of was an Elizabethan troubadour or Shakespearean character using ruffles, ruffs, boots and brooches with a fake flute or harp or mandolin over your shoulder. The key would be a Henry the 8th type headgear- I have always called them puffy berets after Seinfeld’s puffy shirt. Good luck! That jacket is going to be a little warm at the concert, though.

Ju st had another thought, maybe Captain Hook since Adam has “played” him a number of times! Hard to hold a camera with a hook though!

I love that gorgeous jacket! I thought of a very classy sorcerer. With a wand to cast spells and some sort of chic hat. I know you don't want it to be too "costume-y." But I think you could make something like that work. I also love the Captain Hook idea. But of course there is the issue of dealing with a hook. That jacket is beautifully cut. Lovely contour.
