I imagine Adam has been to all of it and likes to creatively recreate his past. The FYE vid, I assume, was a take-off on the underground clubs. IIHY forest vid was recreating the radical faeries tradition (although not nude) that is common among gays.

Hoopla, thanks for paraphrasing interview and indicating that she is aware of the connotation. I'm at work and don't have time to watch long video. I tried to watch some of the 20/20 interview yesterday, but only had time to watch first segment. I've never been great fans of her interviews though, even though I generally like her music and respect her art (not her acting though). There always seems to be a certain air of disdain I get from her, or a complete lack of warmth that I've never cared for. YAY! Someone's actually watched a bit of it! I just tweeted link to robininny because I hoped SOMEONE would watch it while it's still fresh in my mind. AND what I said in my tweet to her was that it's a good interview, much reminds me of A's situations, except HIS style is much more WARM. Same reason I prefer him (or even K Perry) in general to Madge/Gaga, at least in interviews. It looks like the only potential album drop that can mess up #1 spot for Adam is Madonna. THAT is what arouses my interest in her right now. It's good to know what the competition is doing/thinking--although, in the long run I'm not overly invested in numbers or most other pop artists.

Just educating myself as what a "rave" is in more detail. The article I read said alcohol is rarely served because people attending are rarely old enough to drink and alcohol is thought to diminish the effects of the drug! Also provided are things like pacifiers to protect teeth from clenching..... Sorry to those of you that are more progressive but as the mom of two college girls, I am having a gut wrenching response to this right now. Read more if you dare. this is short-ish and to the point.... www.lakecountymeg.org/About%20Rave%20Clubs.htmLive and learn at ATOP! I am with you...all of this makes me scared for my kids... the only hope is that I did a decent job teaching them self control... as progressive as I am on most of the issues I deeply detest anything that has to do with mind altering substances, including alcohol... (i have a lucky ability to have fun without that stuff ;D...)What's kind of funny is that those of us in our 30's-50's were in college or just out of college when raves were very big (coincided with the Madonna Vogue era) and were probably at more 'risk' than kids today

This seems so different from the parties I've been to. Maybe things are different here or maybe I've just been lucky with the parties I've chosen to go to. Now I'm wondering what kind of raves and forest parties Adam has been to. Always when he has been talking about those I've assumed the parties are similar to those I'm used to. The raves I've been to were in the mid to late 90s and drugs weren't an issue then. It was just lots of dancing non-stop. I have no doubt that there were drugs but if you're not into that scene those people don't seek you out to try to convince you to try it (contrary to popular belief about peer pressure). Adam is from LA and was a club kid. He's been very open about experimenting with drugs so I'm 99.9% sure he's referring to parties where X was readily taken. This seems more familiar to me. I know there are some drugs at the parties and I know some people that have experimented. But it has always been very small minority of people. No one has ever tried to get me to try not even those few people that have tried themselves, because I've never been interested. At one legal forest party that I attended several years until it was discontinued in 2010 there were lots of polices doing searches with dogs and found mostly some marijuana. Also one time I heard some people talking about going to this popular jazz festival and what drugs they were going to take there. There was no police at the jazz festival, but the people that do drugs can do it anywhere.
