I don't really watch a lot of the Adam videos from after the pandemic. I will check out a few of them here to make sure I'm not missing anything. But I don't watch them over and over again on my tv like I do with some from pre-pandemic videos. Sunday night, I was in the mood to pull up some of my favorite Adam and QAL performances and this one was playing when a couple of my younger female relatives stopped by. They are not avid fans who follow him but they like him. They could not stop gushing about how great a singer he is and how handsome and sexy he is in this video. He really does look good. He has on eye makeup but not too heavy and distracting and a head full of gorgeous hair without the sides shaved off, lol. I could not stop smiling as they went on and on about his looks and his voice. One did mention that she did see him perform on the Oscars and said he was a babe. HA! So I played the QAL Oscars and one from Global Citizens. And I showed them Elvis, Girl Crush, El Rey Theatre, GMA and Kennedy Center. lurleene, I applaud the opportunity to show some vids to your younger relatives. Esp. since their reaction was so positive. I have sisters who were Idol watchers and found Adam just as I did. They liked him a lot but never latched on as supportive fans like I did. Over time, I would keep them up to date on Adam's career, and if they happen to randomly catch him on a show or something, they say he was good. But they don't follow him. And I don't bring him up anymore. That's why a fansite like this is so important to me. I can be the major fan that I am, and I can gush about Adam all I want. Fans here understand. And I'm lucky to have a friend close-by who shares my passion, too. We get together and share the news and enjoy ourselves. Makes all the difference.

My son and his wife like Adam tho not followers. So once in a while, I would pull up a video to show them. But my son appreciates "rockstar" Adam so I was always very selective in what I showed him. Something with Queen or with solo organic Adam and his band (nothing choreographed with dancers or heavy makeup or OTT costumes cause he has no interest in pop). They attended a QAL concert with me and really enjoyed it. But the last videos I shared with them were the Kennedy Center and the Oscars. I have always read the room, lol. But I don't bring him up with many or often either. |

I often wonder what other singer I would feel so trepidatious about mentioning to someone I know. If I was a strong follower of Adele or Meghan Thee Stallion or Lizzo or Harry Styles, would I feel the need to tiptoe around the topic of that person's career with my friends, if they weren't big fans themselves? Honestly, it probably wouldn't be that big a deal one way or the other. But somehow, with Adam, it is. Despite his astounding voice and his good looks and his general "niceness" and sunny disposition, he's pretty polarizing. He chooses to act a lot "gay-er" than some other gay artists. Maybe that's the difference. With him, being gay is not just a side issue. He's unapologetic about it all. Maybe that's what puts some people off. No one denies that amazing voice. But with Adam, being a long-term fan requires buying into the whole deal. It's not just about the music.

Nice photo of Adam and Oliver  . They look relaxed and happy. Remember an early interview where Adam said he was attracted to twinks. Like so many of Adam's wishes, I would say that this one has come true. |
