I often wonder what other singer I would feel so trepidatious about mentioning to someone I know. If I was a strong follower of Adele or Meghan Thee Stallion or Lizzo or Harry Styles, would I feel the need to tiptoe around the topic of that person's career with my friends, if they weren't big fans themselves? Honestly, it probably wouldn't be that big a deal one way or the other. But somehow, with Adam, it is. Despite his astounding voice and his good looks and his general "niceness" and sunny disposition, he's pretty polarizing. He chooses to act a lot "gay-er" than some other gay artists. Maybe that's the difference. With him, being gay is not just a side issue. He's unapologetic about it all. Maybe that's what puts some people off. No one denies that amazing voice. But with Adam, being a long-term fan requires buying into the whole deal. It's not just about the music. I don't know if it is about Adam being gay. My son certainly knows he is gay (everyone on the planet does). And unless Adam is doing some pride events, at a drag show or out with friends, there is hardly anything to notice. When Adam performs on tv, that is where most non-fans would see him, he tends not to overdo it. He in not one note like LNX with something to prove. I think all the real OTT stuff increased when he put on the weight. Just layers and layers of makeup and unflattering clothing. I would hesitate to show that to people as I don't think the voice would get noticed over the OTT look. Nothing to do with him being gay. I have a niece who was a huge Bieber fan and she was always embarrassed when her mom mentioned it in front of others, lol. My sister is a huge fan of Beyonce and my eyes glaze over when she brings her up so she rarely does around me anymore. HA. I rarely watch anything relating to Lizzo as I don't find her act appealing. I had heard people say they were sick of seeing SS even before he got bolder. HA. I think people in general don't want to hear anyone gush or bring up acts often that they are not huge fans of.

Agree with this.
