Brandi Carlile received Grammy nominations in several different genres. That sure increases her chances and I hope she gets one or some of them. Best Americana Album/Best American Roots Song/Best Rock Song/Best Rock Performance/Album of the Year/Record of the Year. And Beyonce did get her way and got several nominations in dance/electronica as well as R&B and other areas (she has the most nominations). She competes with Brandi in Album of the Year and Record of the Year. Hats off to their teams for getting them as many chances as possible and not worrying about pop. Unfortunately Darren Criss did not get a nomination for his Christmas album in The Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album featuring Adam on one song. But Kelly Clarkson got one in that category for her Christmas Album. The whole awards thing is a very intricate game that has to be played with a lot of strategy. I wish Adam had "people" to work with who could help him with that strategy. Seems like other artists have teams that know how to manipulate their music for the maximum payoff. A singer like Adam is long overdue for this kind of recognition. Good grief.

A singer like Adam is long overdue for this kind of recognition. Good grief. Yep. It is really difficult. But some of these teams have learned not to keep playing the pop game. If you win you win no matter the category. Xtina is up for Best Latin Pop album. I guess she says I don't give a s*** if I am no longer a pop darling, I'll just find another way to compete, lol. Same with Kelly. They don't really play her much anymore but there she is with a nomination in Traditional pop. Didn't work out for Nicki Minaj tho. She was very vocal about not wanting her work submitted in the heavy competitive pop category but wanted it in rap instead. She got neither. I guess it does not pay to fight with them in the press. LNX was vocal when he did not win any of his 5 nominations the last time. No noms for him this time. Now that Adam is back with Warner, there is a chance that he can get Mad About the Boy in the Traditional pop category the next time. And if his new album has some rock, maybe he can get something in rock or alt. I just hope they don't keep going for that dead end and one box in regular pop. Give him a fighting chance in other categories. You don't need to sell like Harry, Adele and Taylor to win or get a nomination in some of those non-pop categories.

Didn't realize Eber was my age. Guess I really am old enough to be Adam's mom lol. I better start behaving myself haha.

lurleene, amen to all you said. You don't have to be a multi-million seller or even get tons of radio play to get these noms. And like them or not, these noms and wins DO matter to an artist's career. It's tangible cred for what they do. I hope Warner Bros can get him in there with other artists where he deserves to be. I thought of Mad About The Boy, too. It's a song that should cross genre boundaries and generational boundaries. He did a spectacular job. He deserves some notice for it.
Enjoyed Eber's little homage to the Beatles' "When I'm Sixty-Four." And the Roman numerals were a nice touch. Love his subtle wit.
