This just touched me so much. I think he was reaching to his brow, I think his hand was shaking. I don't think he made it shake for affect. It seemed like such a vulnerable moment to me. Excitement, adrenaline, "opening night" jitters, NEW BAND. He managed all that VERY well and gave us a stellar rendition. I am so happy to read the good reviews. I hope all his hard work pays off for him. I'm buying a few more downloads on his birthday. My charity this year is going to be HIM.

Adam Lambert Turns Idol Up to 11 He was unlike any contestant Idol audiences had ever seen: a makeup-wearing, octave-defying, glam-rocking showman who could wail with the best of them (and did he ever) and hold back when need be, to deliver a nuanced, pitch-perfect performance. Each of Adam Lambert’s season 8 numbers told a story, from the anguish of “Tracks of My Tears” to the cautious optimism of “Black and White,” the haunting “Mad World” and the dramatic “Ring Of Fire,” but more importantly: they entertained. In a truly game-changing act, the show had to learn to keep up with Lambert’s theatricality and in turn introduced more adventurous lighting and effects. It’s a benefit future Idols, like season 10’s James Durbin who was allowed fire for one of his performances, would reap for years to come and just another reason to bow down to Lambert’s Idol throne. Note to self: When Adam is performing on TV record the show AFTER the show he is on. You just never know when the recording will cut of IN THE MIDDLE of him singing if you don't ! Girlfriend on the bass is bad ass. Not only did she keep playing when her strap came off, she had to knell down IN A SKIRT ON LIVE TV to do it. Yeah...I've got to give props to Ashley - that was an awesome save! Must admit I didn't really notice when it happened but after re-watching (a billion times) I'm totally impressed. (Maybe this happens frequently with guitar players, but it still must have ruffled her a tad - first TV performance with a new band...Adam's premiere of his new single....poor thing!....then again, she did look BADASS SO....YAY!) ...and how sweet of Rickey to give her a new strap.

THIS^^^^^^^I'm a bit uncomfortable with the presumptions of a drinking problem on both Adam's and Sauli's parts! This type of speculation is jumping to some conclusions that could be way off! Unless I hear from Adam that he has some type of alcohol addiction problem, I feel uncomfortable with presuming or even speculating that he has any type of problem in this area. But the only people assuming Adam has a drinking problem are the people complaining about Gelly's fun, "speculative" post on the meaning of OOFTA! Me? I think OOFTA has something to do with their exclamation the first time they had sex!! ^^A joke ^^ ^^^^^I've wanted to say that all a.m. LOLZ

I learned that lesson in 2009, during Idol. I was one of the few that DID record Mad World because I regularly set the DVR for the show after. It never occurred to me that Leno would go over.

Does anybody know where Sauli was sitting in relation to where Adam was standing and singing? I noticed him looking slightly left at times with emotion on his face. Am I projecting my desire that he was singing to Sauli. One of the tweeters last night said she kept thinking Adam was singing straight to her, then realized Sauli was sitting right behind her. And another said S was sitting up and to the right if you were looking at the audience from A's viewpoint. But I haven't really paid enough attention to that part of the performance to figure it out yet! And maybe Sauli wearing a green shirt (as opposed to black/gray) was to make it easier for A's eyes to find him if he wanted to? Sorry, hate to rain on this little parade, but our friend and member, (but infrequent poster) timegoesby (Holla!!) was sitting directly behind Sauli and she laughed at that contention. She said, "He was looking at everyone like he always does." And you can see CLEARLY in the video he is making eye contact throughout the audience. He looks left, center, right, and back again. I think he may have sang one line directly towards Sauli, perhaps and probably what CoralMermaid was talking about (follow her and love her and I'm sure that's what she perceived in a moment, but not for the entire time). Anyone who has ever seen Adam perform live and has been lucky enough to be close enough for him to make eye contact knows he makes it with multiple members of the audience throughout his performance. IMO, standing there singing directly to Sauli, though schmoopy and romantic, would be rather unprofessional and not a compelling performance for the rest of the audience. He is a consummate professional and performer and no way he would sit there and sing to one member of the audience while excluding the others. Sorry to burst any bubbles, but try to image the reality of that. Also, I am so effing blown away by his courage to fight this lawsuit. IMO, he's not only standing up for himself, he is standing up for every struggling performer who gets preyed upon by opportunistic sleazebags.
