I've watched this vid so many times tonight. I can't get thru it without welling up. I just get caught up in the emotion of the song...and the emotion Adam puts into it. So many nuances in his voice that just pull at my heart.
When he gets to the bridge .... Every Time .... he gets half way thru it and I just melt. From there on out I'm a gonner. Totally lost in the web he weaves. The final chorus totally does me in.
I'm amazed at his ability to draw me so totally into the song. He does it in the studio version, too. But not like he does on this live version. And it's not just being able to see him sing it....it's what he does with his voice ... and his body language ... and the emotion he brings to all of it.
I'm also noticing a difference in his tone. I'm wondering if he's feeling the emotion more and it brings more depth to his voice? Or maybe that's just me and what I'm feeling. Whatever it is, I'm way lost way down this rabbit hole. And I don't intend to find my way back for a while! *probably never*

Now that I watched the YT a gazzilion times, i'm not sure about the ring, lol.
It looks so much the same but this one is more sparkly? And the sides are edgier? Too much thought for nothing lol.

It was a good performance and great to see Adam back on stage but I don't quite feel "the pain" (to paraphrase from Simon) or hear a big shift in his vocal style etc that others are talking about. The song has a more pop feel so yep - he's going to sound more pop singing it. It's an emotional angsty sort of song, so yep he's going to channel that singing it.
If the anthology of Adam teaches us nothing it is that he can adjust his singing style to suit many genres of music and is good and channelling the spirit of a song along with the lyrics.
