This is only related to Adam because he came in 2nd on American Idol Season 7 (2008), the year before Adam. He just came out as gay last year at 30 years old. Does anyone remember David Archuleta? In this emotional video, he describes his difficult journey. www.youtube.com/watch?v=56bIc0xexbY

AOBTD.. One of the comments from the video.. Maria Williams 4 months ago The more I listen to this guy, the better it gets. I’d never heard him before this year 2022, when he was with Queen preforming at QE2 platinum party. I have hung my head in shame. Since that night I’ve watched interviews, different performances reaching the conclusion he’s a great performer with a truly great voice but most of all what a nice man. www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-VqSFS9hBc

I knew him as a devout Mormon who did mission work some years ago. I know a guy who was disowned and shunned by his Mormon church community and his family when he came out, and almost killed himself. I have great respect for Archuleta for claiming his true self.

I give David A. A lot of credit, too. It's hard enough to come out when you have a loving family and friends. But to be a member of a church that condemns being gay, it must have been a huge decision to make. He seems very relieved and happy. I actually watched AI that year (the first year I ever watched), and I liked David a lot. David Cook was good, too. He's the one that won. And even though Adam was already "out," on AI, he wasted no time in making it common knowledge. It takes guts to do it no matter what the circumstances.
Gotta check out this Triangle of Sadness film. I love Woody H.
The Children and Family Emmys is this Saturday the 10th. A Tale Dark and Grimm is nominated. Would be so great if it won! Adam was fantastic in it!

Thanks loxie for the video of David A. My DH is a native Utahn, and although he was only a member of the Mormon church until his early twenties (he even went on a mission to Indonesia), one of his sisters and a sister-in-law are devout Mormons. I lived in Utah (where I met my DH) for almost 17 years, and their damning of anyone in the LGBTQ community has always upset me terribly. So I have some knowledge of how difficult it was for David A. to finally acknowledge and spread the word publicly about his true self. I really admire his courage!
I too watched Season 7 of Idol, known as "the battle of the Davids", and I liked both of them. I'm showing my age, but I even remember when David A. was on "Star Search"! However, the "Davids" Idol season paled in comparison to Season 8 when Adam stole my heart completely with his talent, charisma, incredible voice, wonderful personality and showmanship. And my Adam journey continues! Loved the recent pics of Adam wearing the black and ivory suits. He looks fabulous! Can't wait for The Voice performance!
