This is a long story and it is not about Adam except that I am a fan and it is about me. However, it is a story about how the Universe gives us small miracles and human wonders like Adam when we don't even know we need them yet.
Two or three weeks ago the battery in my ThermoPop, a wonderful and inexpensive kitchen thermometer which comes in lots of fun colors (https://www.thermoworks.com/thermopop/) began to fade. I opened it to find out what kind of battery I needed — a button type CR2032. I checked my local grocery and they had singles for $2.36 so I put one in my next curbside order. On the day of pickup they informed me they currently didn't have any singles or doubles, but I could get four. Four seemed wasteful so I declined.
The next day I was restless and decided to go in person to another HEB but the story was the same. So I drove to a nearby CVS and they had a single. This part of the story is critical because the item was in the wrong place on the display and so I didn't see the price and when I scanned it at self-checkout the battery was well over $7. I was aghast and immediately started trying to cancel the transaction even though I hadn't put in payment, that was how shook I was. A cashier came over and asked if there was a problem and I told her I was trying to cancel because the battery was more than three times as expensive as HEB. She snatched the battery, cancelled the transaction, said "Fine!" and stomped off.
Still restless, I went to yet another HEB and they had one last package of two for $5.89 which I bought. When I got home I changed the battery and all was well. Looking at the extra battery I remembered that I had gifted a Thermopop to my son around the same time and thought if my charge was low then his must be too. So I decided to mail the extra battery to him but, not having an envelope downstairs, I left it sitting on my coffee table as a reminder.
Later I realized he would be coming home for Christmas so there the battery sat, moving it to dust and even to put up Christmas decorations. I felt that if I put it away, I would forget.
Weeks pass.
Today as I was going to pickup yet another HEB curbside order my car informed me that the battery in my keyless entry fob was low. When I got home and after putting away the groceries, I dug the fob out of my purse and tried to figure out how to open it. I wasn't having much luck except to extract an actual key from one end that I did not realize was even there, but still hadn't opened the fob. Too lazy to go back out to the garage and get the owner's manual, I pulled up every handywoman's favorite website, YouTube, and searched for a video on how to change the battery in a key fob. Of course I found the exact one, watched it, and before proceeding any further looked closely to see what type of battery I needed. If you have gotten this far, you know where this is going right!?!
Sure enough it was a CR2032, the exact same battery that was sitting on my coffee table right in front of me. The universe works in mysterious ways, its miracles to perform.
Unfortunately my son will have to buy his own battery because the second battery is now safely in my key fob.
The End

Gawd!! He looked like 2 million bucks. I wish a wider audience could see him more often looking and sounding so great and moving with his own material. They see him singing other's songs and it resonates. But it is not often that a wider US audience gets to see him doing his own thing (with songs they know) like this. If this song had been on the radio and was known, tv performances would have made a difference, imo. More please.
