Wow. that podcast was so eye-opening! Adam is usually the guy with smile on his face and that infectious laugh. We had no idea that he was going through so much mental (and physical) pain. So happy that he has found a good way to take care of himself. You never know what's going on inside a person, famous or not. Being a celebrity isn't an easy road to travel. Makes me wonder how many Queen shows he did when he was not feeling well mentally. And we all know he has enjoyed his tequila, but we didn't know that he finally realized he was drinking too much. Sounds like his relationship with Oliver is pretty solid. And BTW, we know that Brian May has suffered from serious depression for many years. He talks about being in a "dark place." Hope Adam continues to be happy and keep his mental issues under control.

WOW! Just wow. What an insightful and emotionally evolved human being Adam is. I can see how and why his long term friendships are so important to him. He seems to rely on his history and observations of the people around him to reorient himself and take action—e.g. he has seen Allison’s addictive behavior and learned to recognize it in himself—and more importantly take action to change. Being that self-aware is a blessing, but I can see why he has to deliberately get out of his head from time to time to tie his strong emotions to his craft. Having listened to this, I have few worries about him going off the rails about negative tweets, criticism, etc. it also makes me wonder if WE (and I include myself in this) want him to recognize our positive comments to validate him or ourselves. Or, maybe, more simply, we want him to feel our love.
To have that tremendous talent and self-awareness is an incredible combination. It allows him “to sing his feelings” which transforms into a great gift to his audiences. I continue to be amazed at how humble he is when he is so extraordinary. He may not have attended college, but his study to learn about himself and his ability to be a light to others (in Michelle Obama’s definition of light) has earned him a Ph.D in entertaining. So much depth. So able to share his vulnerabilities. We Stan the best person as well as a sublime entertainer, who when he unleashes his voice unleashes joy in his audiences.

I haven't seen the entire interview yet, but I love your post. It takes a lot of guts to lay yourself bare like that.

ljsmack - yes, he is extraordinary. Truly a GFG, as Dr. Brian has dubbed him. I wish only love for him, he deserves it.

So proud of Adam now knowing the amount of stress he has dealt with over the years. Funny how I wondered why he was always motioning to the sound mixer on stage and now I know. Anxiety!!!!! The need to be perfect and a place to put the blame. Not to put any more on his plate but he should think about his own pod cast. He is fantastic at conversation and is so open.
