That whole feed is a trip OMG YOU ARE SO RIGHT! ;D I can't believe I let myself get sucked in, but I asked her a question--and she got so defensive it made me sad for her. -She said her job is to call the shots--she doesn't like BTIKM, so they're not playing it. Requests don't matter. She's done this for >20 years, her stations's #1--all stations she's ever worked for are #1! (BY GOD!) -and then she says BUT IF IT'S A HIT WE'LL DEF ADD IT! (great, I think!) -she says "research shows" (lol, you don't wanna know her research plan) it won't be a hit, so she's not playing it--she's the coach and her call is bad song, and she uses a sports analogy. @shannonssteele ...a lot more than just that goes into it, but yes just as a coach doesn't sign a player that isn't ... m.tmi.me/l2JxK -I simply asked...so if you don't like a song you don't play it even if listeners request it--UNLESS it becomes a "hit" after other radio stations play it--and then you will add it even if you don't like it? -She finally understood what I was asking and answered yes, that's the way it works in radio. SOMETIMES SHE'S WRONG. (Imagine that.) I was not even slightly rude, but it took her a while to figure out I was only trying to see how it works, and until she figured out I was not being hostile, she got EXTREMELY dense and defensive (as most people tend to do when they're flummoxed.) But it all ended well: I said: @shannonssteele LOL, FINALLY! \o/ Sorry for miscommunication, and THANK YOU for the answer! Now I can get on with hoping BTIKM is a HIT! :D She said: @hooplapf LOL, sometimes it just takes time!! I'd NEVER claim to always be right, if I'm proven wrong I will add it I swear! The irony is SHE HAD CLAIMED TO ALWAYS BE RIGHT SEVERAL TIMES. LOLOL. The moral of the story (for me): 1) The minute you see words of negativity by a radio person or reviewer, check them out. What is their bias, if any? 2) Never again waste time worrying about what someone who clearly doesn't deserve respect (and she doesn't, based on HER responses to polite questions) thinks about Adam's music (or anyone else's.) Well, Adam won't have any such reaction to the cover of his sophomore CD, Trespassing, which is coming out in March. Adam tweeted the cover Monday night, and added that he's the "creative director" of the project, which means he had final say on the image. It's a somewhat stylized close-up photo of his face -- he has short spiky hair and he's wearing black disc earrings. The album title Trespassing is printed below in yellow, to mimic the look of a "Police Line: Do Not Cross" banner. So far, reaction has been positive. I have a question. I think I read that this Toby dude said it was from "a source close to the label". Soooooo. This could be the UPS guy, the Chinese delivery dude, the chick from Pizza Hut? So the scenario is that RCA and the Toby dude order from the same Chinese takeout place and the delivery guy tells Toby he overheard someone talking the phone at RCA? Seriously? That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. ;D I like your story.. can I order Chinese or Pizza from this same place and have the UPS guy deliver them to me in FL??? Maybe I can give you guys more insights from the "insider".. ;D ;D ;D ;D |
