loxie What a beautiful song! I don't think I had heard it before -- pure voice and harmonies!! I always thought it was rather extraordinary that Gordon Lightfoot could write such a wistful song as The Way I Feel and then a rather cold-hearted song like That's What You Get For Loving Me. Sounds like many artists, he was a complicated man! www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpkATS6mjbc

The Idol performance was everything!!! In a way, it brought back the Adam that I fell in love with when it all started for him. I noticed the weight loss right away as his face looked slimmer, and I even thought that the eye make-up worked for that particular performance. I hope that he’ll take a few inches off his footwear for future performances especially with Queen, to reduce the risk of tripping. Plus I don’t think that the extreme platforms add anything visually. Oh Sizzling…so exactly what I was feeling. May sound silly but I was saying to myself ‘you’re back Adam!’. He has been strictly audio only for me for so long. I haven’t been able to enjoy watching him. Not just his looks but I felt the spark was missing, buried metaphorically under the layers he chose. But in those minutes on Idol you could see he’d got the essential Adam spark back again and it was stunning. Perfect vocals combined with great performance skills - and loved the look….head to…ankles SophieB, you said it perfectly and so much better than I did. I am still over the moon. For me, Adam delivered the goods on Monday, and then some!! He took one of my favorite songs on HD to another level by treating us to a stellar live vocal performance and a "vibe" and a sexy rock star look to match! ("head to...ankles" is good enough for me for now )

This is the first time sense the pandemic that I have replayed Adam's performance so many times that I think I need therapy, lol. I could even feel the joy coming from him and that makes it so special along with how much joy the performance gave me. And Lionel was feeling the rocking grove. HA.

Happy, thank you so much for this post (I just saw your post, as I'm a bit behind!). How fitting that they rang the bell thirty times at the Mariner's Cathedral in Detroit in honor of Gordon. So moving how Gordon kept in touch over many years with the family members of the sailors who were lost on the Edmund Fitzgerald. I visited the Whitefish Point Museum on Lake Superior in Michigan many years ago where artifacts from the Edmund Fitzgerald were displayed. Gordon's song was playing while you visited that exhibit - a very moving experience. The Canadian Railway Trilogy is also one of my very favorites. Hope your daughter is enjoying her trip!

You're welcome. I found it interesting and heartwarming that he has maintained that contact over the years. And just thought I would let you know that she arrived home safely last night. YAY!
