Well that's good. However, I saw the pic, and I didn't realize it was from a concentration camp. I thought it was a really great pic, very artistic, and really conveyed the concept of Tresspassing. I was surprised at the immediate and overwhelming response to it. Yeah, when that pic came to Adamtopia a number of months ago, most of us mods were shocked to realize that a huge number of people didn't recognize the background. At the time, I privately commented to the other mods that I didn't know whether to be happy or upset that the photo wasn't immediately recognizable anymore by a large segment of the population. And by the way I would like to retroactively thank everyone on ATOP that day who were immediately sensitive to the nature of that Photoshop once it was explained to them, who then helped to make sure that not only was it instantly erased on this site, but went around Twitter and explained what the problem was to (especially) the younger tweeters who didn't recognize what they were passing around. Thanks also to Q3 who actually contacted the site from whence the picture was taken, and told the operator what it was a picture of. The photo was unlabeled and apparently even they didn't know it was a pretty famous photo of Auschwitz. Thanks to everyone today for their rational response to an unknowing error that is also being taken care of appropriately. It took me a while to realize that there are people who would not recognize that concentration camp image. Actually it took me a couple of hours to "get" that. I commented, I tweeted the mag, but I had no idea what else to do... i was only hoping that Adam would not see it, his family would not see it...my ZEN was gone and I am still shaken... Q3 - Great to know that you called! Perhaps - on the positive side - a few people got educated today...at least I hope so.

OT, but I saw this on that page and it answered a question I've had for awhile, which was, "Who does Justin Bieber remind me of?" They've got it--it's young Donny Osmond! It had been teasing at my mind every time I saw a picture of young Mr. Bieber.

Everyone who is on twitter please give them a thumbs up for this. They support Adam in the UK and I'm sure they didn't mean to. Concur. Even a quick " Thanks for removing that inadvertently inappropriate pic so quickly. Appreciate it!!
" would be good. Its posting was unintentional, and they are trying to fix ASAP. Kudos would go a long way to smoothing things and letting them know that Adam fans know that they are trying to do the right thing. nope... can't excuse such deep ignorance from a publication establishment. Some one there went to college, read books and took a Modern European History class somewhere. INEXCUSABLE!This was not some fan doing a photoshop. This is a MAGAZINE! With circulation. With editors. With responsibility. Shame on them. No good feelings towards them at all.

Keep in mind this is a twitter that posted that right? Mostly some intern running that shit. Cut em a break. They obvsly didn't mean any ill intent and didn't realize what it was and then took it down AND apologized. Jesus.

I think it's great that fans didn't go all over the top mad about it. Mistakes happen, we're all humans here - past is past and all we can do is move on and try to learn from our mistakes.

Um... actually it probably was a fan doing photoshop, because it has been circulating around in fandom for a long time (hence hoppers comment above). Yes, their intern or whatever picking some fan photoshop off of google images and reposting it without doing any research or crediting is irresponsible and they've acknowledged that. But imho it wouldn't have been out there if fans hadn't been circulating this 'shop for weeks without realizing or (in many cases) being called on it by other fans. A teachable moment, not only for Fault, but for fandom.

With regards the Warnwillis tweet, it is very dark humor, and maybe in bad taste, but it is intended to be humor. I've seen plenty of friends get linked to that site on their birthday. I don't read it as anything more that WWillis being 'laddish' as my British husband would say.

I did not recognize it either, just thought it was normal industrial area, with normal protection of property. Looks very similar. And in my age I should know. If the person was young, this is not anymore well known image for him/her (of which I am also happy, hopefully they never need to face anything like that) . So s**t happened, I appreciate FAULTS proper actions. No publisher wants to see something like this happening, I believe it was UNintentional accident. ETA: UNintentional! Something happened and this was missing

I tell you something - Do you know how often we read in international press about "polish concentration camps"? After all these years they still make that mistake. Knowledge and responsibility are important.

A teachable moment, not only for Fault, but for fandom. I agree, and I think it would be an incorrect assumption that someone who doesn't recognize that background doesn't know about the Nazi regime or concentration camps. Pretty sure that's universally taught in World History classes. I only recognized the image because I've visited Auschwitz-Birkenau and once you see it, you can never forget. Back many months ago when the pic first surfaced, I traced it back to a person's Twitter. I think that person made the original manip, because she seemed to make manips regularly. I tweeted her politely about it, but she never responded. It's unfortunate that the image is now forever available on the internet, but that's how it is. I think Valilac makes a good point that the image is thought-provoking, and underscores how far we have come, that a gay, Jewish entertainer is being welcomed and loved in Austria and Germany. Hate is strong, but love and life are stronger.
