OT: What is with these country acts trying to make inroads into rock? Dolly Parton is releasing a rock album. I'm sure she will have no problem getting rock awards. Carrie Underwood, who has been trying to present herself as a rocker as younger country females are starting to get the awards she once enjoyed, is going on tour with Guns N Roses. If she decides to release a rock album (rock does not have as much competition as country) she likely will get awards there too. Just as she did when she released a Gospel Album, she jumped right over the gospel singers and won a Grammy there, where she is now being shut out in country. Tho I think it is smart for you and your team to get your work in the less competitive genres, I'm am so tired of country artists being everywhere. Not country but even that Hawaiian kid who just won Idol had his ballad, that is so not rock, go to #1 on the rock charts. If you can't compete and win in pop, disco or country, it seems to be so easy to get recognized in the less competitive rock arena, unless your name is Adam Lambert and you are also only the Queen frontman, lol. Rant over. HA. I 100% agree. I just still can't figure out who/what entity keeps putting Adam in pop. is it Adam? his label? I don't get it. Also, in the case of Dolly Parton, she was inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame and initially refused the award because she said she was not rock. Of course, they came back with all of the reasons and she accepted. So, I am not surprised she is putting out a rock album. I wonder if she will collab with Miley on any of the songs. Sometimes, I think it is just because it is Adam, and the US Music industry will never give him anything. I wouldn't be surprised if she collaborated with Miley. Miley and Demi both have released a #1 rock and Alt albums. I don't get it. Everyone has praised Adam's High Drama album as a great glam-rock album but I have only seen it listed as pop except on Amazon it was listed under rock too. Velvet also charted in rock on Amazon but not anywhere else. That pop lane is just dead and I cannot understand trying to hold on to that with so little success and recognition. Even when Adam got a Grammy nom for WWFM, it was before they put the male and females together. If they had been together, he may not have even gotten the one as that was around the time of Katy, Gaga, Kesha, Pink and Kelly Clarson and many other Divas. As for Dolly thinking only rock acts make the rock Hall of fame made no sense. Lionel Richie and Eminem and many other non-rock artists have always been included. I would be surprised if she were not aware of that as long as she has been in the industry, lol. |

Nice setlist. Interesting that he is not including all of the songs from the new album. I thought since it was for High Drama all of the songs would be on it.
