I have long thought that Adam has some sort of impenetrable force field around him when it comes to the big music awards. After all these years he has ONE Grammy nomination. One. Nobody disputes his vocal talent. And we have certainly learned that having a good voice doesn't mean you win awards. This awards genre thing is so maddening. Artists who jump around from pop to rock to country, etc, etc, and pile up the Grammys makes my stomach hurt, not to mention my heart. Awards, deserved or not, give an artist immense cred. I'm sure Adam has spent many an hour thinking of all this. I guess immense talent, great songs, a good personality, intelligence and good looks just aren't enough.

But how do we know it is not enough if Adam's work is only included in pop? How do you compete with Harry, Ed, Billie, Adele, Taylor etc. when they are pop radio darlings and putting up such tremendous numbers that you are not even thought about? Even someone like John Legend (don't see the appeal) has won a sh** load of Grammy's but all in the less competitive genres. I understand that gays love the pop and dance categories and not rock so much but Adam's appeal is not limited to his community. Heck even Beyonce is now winning Grammy's in the dance categories as well as R&B. That dude Jelly Roll (an ex-convict) started off in rap but is now riding hard in the charts in both country and rock. Not saying that Adam would be successful but it seems weird that they don't even seem to try something different. Especially when he is so good and has cred and recognition in the rock genre already. Much better than some who are succeeding. And the media calls him a rock star as much or more than pop. He looks and acts more like a rock star and said he was going to embrace it. But we shall see when Pride Month is over, lol. |
