1.29.12 Q-Snowcase Thread

("Trespassing" brings to my mind the opening of "TrueBlood" - not the sound of the song, but that idea of venturing into scary backward backwood where fuck knows what happens!)

I am a very happy cassie today. I got to hear Adam sing live, acoustic, with the vocals clearly up front. Don't care about the audience. A couple hundred folks in Europe who I hope were impressed -- how could they not be with that VOICE and as gorgeous as he looked --- but if they weren't, oh well. I wasn't tuned in to see the audience. I was tuned it to see Adam and hear Adam.

Fever: very interesting take. Adam and band added some funk to it. Not so much club music, but groove music. I think Kevin added a lot of that in the keyboards. Adam's voice was on point, and he hit that glory note perfectly. Can I say again, how nice it is to hear Adam's voice without all the layers of instruments and backing tracks? Pure and natural with just a little reverb. That's the way I like to hear his voice.

BTIKM: Again, a very different arrangement, but, I liked it! It starts so quiet and intimate thru the first verse and chorus. The second verse comes in a bit stronger with the guitar adding more depth to the backing. The chorus he sings in full voice. Then, the bridge strips it all back down again, with the second half almost acappella. The chorus comes back with power, and then, in the repeat, he wails it. And adds a tender tag to the end. Adam always has a way of building an arc into a song from beginning to end which is very satisfying. Like telling a story from beginning to end. Intro, build, climax, back down, build again, ultimate climax, then the sigh or wrap at the end. Very artistic.

OOL: Exquisite. More beautiful than the premiere, and I didn't think that possible. Kevin has changed up the harmonies and chords, making the song sound like less of a minor key. Again, Adam and the band start softly, build the arc of the song, then bring us back to earth. There were places in the song where I just had to close my eyes and let the voice envelop me. Is there an mp3 download yet?????

Trespassing: Great groove. Great lyrics. Fun. Defiant. Sharp delivery of lyrics with attack. So pleased that we got a snippet, intentional or not. With this taste, I KNOW the single (yes, it will be a single) will have me dancing my ass off.

Remembering how we yearned for fan-made, iPhone YT clips of his promo appearances in Europe two years ago, I am grateful for the quality of this stream.

As for the question about whether Adam was in top form, vocally, no, I don't think so. As some have said before, when a singer is cold, over-tired, running on fumes, has been talking all day, and finds himself in a smoke-filled room, the voice suffers. I think Adam was having a bit of difficulty with his very light, clear head voice -- the first thing to be affected by this kind of stress. However, as he said in Hollywood week, his depth of experience has taught him how to sing despite the difficulties. Adam handled it very well, and sounded great.

Now, have to go back and listen for the third, fourth, fifth time. ILHSFM.
