In defense of Tommy, I have to say I like the fact that his guitar doesn't compete with Adam ... every time I listen to OOL from St. Agathe (love that song!) I am annoyed at how harshly the acoustic guitar intrudes on the vocals ... here at Zel am See it was soft and melodic. Same in WWFM. I'm hoping to see the same restraint from Isaac this time ... during GNT he didn't know how to pull back, especially during the band intros ... he always overshadowed CAM during her solo ... I actually tweeted him once (and included a compliment), but suggested he let CAM shine a little more during her solo ... he actually replied and said he would, but he never did that I noticed. That may be why they have recently used the plexiglass panels around Isaac's drums. Drums are the hardest part to balance with the other instruments because it is harder for the drummer to vary the volume they play at and venue acoustics for full drum kits are a nightmare especially in small rooms.

I THINK there are a couple reasons for using plexiglass, including balance, as you said. When instruments are being are being miked, the sound people can isolate the sound more. Also, they are used to spare the hearing of the other people. I don't know if this is why rock groups would use them. But symphony orchestras use plexiglass in front of the percussion section for this reason. It's in some musician union contracts because it can mess with hearing of people who sit in front of the percussion.

Listen to the GNT DVD when Cam starts her solo ... the drums stop and let her shine ... compare that to the Club Nokia GNT at about 1:30 ... Isaac won't share the stage, even behind plexiglas he almost overpowers Cam, and it was her solo, her time to shine, not his ... www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQ7lCD3SDhM

Gee, THANKS JustKaren for THAT particular rabbithole! :-/ ;D
I see what you're saying about overshadowing Cam...but THEN, when I realized this vid was the LAST IIHY of the whole GN Tour, had to watch the whole thing...then the encores...and the whole time I was grinning and giggling and sighing and now S thinks I'm nuts AGAIN. (I try hard not to do these things when she's in the same room.) IN SHORT--I WILL NEVER NOT LOVE THE GLAM NATION TOUR. ADAM IS MY FAVORITE SINGER AND PERFORMER... and I can't wait to see him perform Trespassing!
