Oh my goodness, the WGA is looking to support SAG-Aftra. They are voting whether or not to strike by tomorrow. Fingers crosses this is all over soon. This is terrible. The movie industry makes so much money. Yes, there are superstars that make millions, but there are thousands not in that position. It happened where I work at as well, the powers that be think they never have enough, so the rest do without. So unfair.

SAG-Aftra has been on strike. WGA is the Writers Guild of America and they write for Broadway. Broadway actors may also be part of it, not certain. They have not been on strike. The members have until tomorrow to vote whether or not they want to strike, as well. I first heard yesterday they were supporting SAG-Aftra, but now I hear they have their own issues. According to the news, Broadway shows could start to close as soon as tomorrow.

I am posting a link to an article on the WGA and SAG-Aftra strike....perhaps the acronym for the Broadway/musical writers is similar but the WGA has indeed been on strike for awhile. It is why we are inundated with game shows, old movies and Richard Attenborough this summer lol www.vulture.com/article/wga-strike-2023.html

Their strike is against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). Their strike started in May. You might be confusing the possible strike on Broadway with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) who threatened to strike if the the industry did not negotiate a new contract. At this time they have reached a tentative agreement to avoid a strike. However the union members still have to vote on the agreement. Btw these union members are not writers. The are back stage people like dressers, hair and makeup people, stagehands etc..

I really hope they can come to some kind of agreement to protect themselves soon. I wish the music industry had taken steps. It is different but I think that so many artists can move to the top of the charts (using auto-tune) and winning awards and Grammy's and they can't even sing well and hurt those who can. Put some of them in a live show and they sound awful unless they are lip-syncing to tracks. Let them win awards for best dance team performance or whatever but not for singing.
