I said on yesterday’s page, I’m not that familiar with her music but she has connected with young women that few, if any other pop stars have been able to do. Between my many nieces and the college students I work with they just love her. Just look at her Eras Tour.

tomba, my sentiments with regards to Taylor are very similar. I don't know much of her music, but I get why she is so popular. There's a lot about her that "connects", and it's not only the teenage girls.

Since the Taylor Swift discussion moved here, this is what I wrote late in yesterday's thread.
You might give her another chance. I did! I was turned off early in her career when she won some big awards and did this what seemed like a whole of act of "What me! Little old me!! I don't deserve this! ..." I remember thinking that it all seemed like a whole lot of fake modesty. Then a few years ago I read an interesting article about Taylor and how much work she has put into her career: how she writes all her own songs; how she took singing lessons to strengthen her voice; how engaged she is with her fans; how much crap she has had to put up with being in the music industry and especially being a woman in the music industry; etc. I'm not saying I'm a big fan now but I do respect her and her work ethic.
