This is Soooooooooooo serendipitous, I just have to share it. I wanted gelly's permission first though and just got it! Last month she sent me a Happy New Year's card with a lovely little gift in it. Guess what it was????? Ready??!!!!........................ A Pomegranate charm!!!! At the time I told her it was going to be my symbol for the Adam Storm of 2012!!! But, now, NOW, it takes on a whole new deeper meaning! Can you even believe it!! I think Adam really is a shaman! I do!!! I KNOW!!!! Do you think he was on my mind? ;D What a happy an unbelieavable coincidence! ETA SusieFierce I'm still freaked out about the pomegranate! And also I want to know if he used it as a special meaning!

Saw Adam's tweet about the meaning of "shirk." I do not believe, with the vocabulary he has already demonstrated, that our boy doesn't know the meaning. I think the purpose of the tweet was to show that the article in which he was quoted using the word had invented or embellished that statement. Is that how others interpret it? I agree. If he knows "cathartic," he certainly knows "shirk." I did notice they used the word in the Spoof article and wondered if it had something to do with that, but decided probably not. I only read maybe 70 pages of the 102 yesterday, again problem scrolling on gif laden pages, but I assume you saw the article. Hilarious. Just in case - t.co/MhkCksASHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Savvy, thanks for posting the link to the Spoof article! I wasn't able to read the whole thread yesterday and I know I missed a lot. This was so funny!! Love it! OH...and yum to the photos in the Gareth Pugh coat -- just great. back to RL... ETA: rama -- same article, LOVE IT! Also...*whoa* to Gelly and the pomegranate seed...amazing. And NoAngel, thanks for the RL pomegranate tip -- I have always loved them but they often seem too tedious to deal with --- will try that! And SusieFierce, thanks for posting the RS article. As a parent of (grown) gay children, so horrifying to see these things still happening. Truly leaving now...flail on

The showcase in Stockholm Sunday Feb 5 is scheduled to start at 6.30 pm local time (Sweden). My guess is that it would be at 12.30 pm in New York.

But, now, NOW, it takes on a whole new deeper meaning! Can you even believe it!! I think Adam really is a shaman! I do!!! Wow!!!!!!! There must be a psychic connection between Adam and Gelly! Meanwhile, I have a pomegranate on my kitchen counter that I bought a week ago and have been waiting for the weekend to eat. I love them, but they are a bit labor-intensive. All good things are worth a bit of effort though By the way, a tip for getting the seeds out without making a bloody mess: Cut the fruit in half while it's immersed in a bowl of water. Then separate the seeds from the membrane gently, keeping the fruit under water the whole time. The seeds will sink and the membrane will float to the top. When you're done, just drain the water and you've got a lovely pile of ruby-colored seeds to enjoy. In other words, Adam, you did it wrong, dude... : ;D

Adam told reporters he is going to Asia and Australia and NZ in his LA Promo interviews. No specific mention of Japan but it is the #2 market in the world -- roughly equal to UK+Germany+Austria+France. Since we know that Adam sold approximately 50% of his FYE albums outside of US (RCA press release last week said worldwide sales almost 2 million, US should be around 900K -- they use wholesale shipments NOT retail sales.) Japan may be even more import to Adam's marketing. I think some intern messed this up! The last we heard, FYE had sold arounf 1.3 million worldwide. Why would FYE have 600,000 copies floating around (wholesale shipments) outside of the US? I know that record labels like to stretch things, but adding 700K to FYE, was just too obvious! Well you are correct -- the labels like to put a positive spin on things! So almost 2 million could actually be 1.65 million. I do not know if it was an error or not, but I doubt it. Joking aside, interns to not write press releases at RCA and the labels are careful about any statement that involves numbers. My guess is that they have numbers that support the almost 2 million worldwide number. BUT most countries do not have accurate sales tracking. The 1.3 million numbers from 2011 was an estimate and this number is an estimate -- not actual. The UK and US have somewhat accurate sales tracking. Japan, France, Germany, Canada are all estimates. Most of the worldwide sales numbers we have for artists are overblown -- the most famous example is the Michael Jackson numbers. Check out this article: online.wsj.com/article/SB124760651612341407.htmlSetting that aside -- if we accept the over 1.3 million in January 2011 in the RCA press release. Does almost 2 million make sense now? It is possible. It is probably an estimate of 1.7 million. And based on my best estimate, US shipments are over 900K now, about 50% of Adam's FYE sales. >> Before the 900K number is questioned, here is the answer. It is an estimate but highly likely in that ballpark. << The labels use shipments/wholesale sales NOT retail sales, which must be well over 900K in the US now. - Soundscan retail sales only represents about 90% to 95% of sales. 833K retail sales would be 833K + apx. 50K in sales that did not qualify = 883K. (I took a conservative number for the estimate.) - Shipments includes inventory sold to retailers that is still in stores and retailers'/distributors' warehouses and expected NOT to be returned. With FYE in stock in around 10,000 US retailer locations and 3 units per door = 30,000 wholesale sales that have not been sold to consumer yet. That means US Shipments are over 900K (833K + 50K + 30K = 913K). NOTE: The Wikipedia page for FYE lists it as RIAA Certified Platinum in the US. It is not. I am sure someone will correct it but it won't be me. I am interested in seeing how long it lasts.
