InFocus VisionsQueen + Adam Lambert-The Rhapsody Tour 2023-Wells Fargo Center, PhiladelphiaQueen + Adam Lambert – The Rhapsody Tour 2023 Wells Fargo Center – Philadelphia, PA – October 18, 2023 Review & Photos – Rebecca Wolf www.instagram.com/rebeccawolfconcertphotos/It’s not surprising that on October 18th Wells Fargo Center was sold out for a performance by Queen + Adam Lambert as the continue their Rhapsody Tour 2023. The music of Queen is iconic and has remained revered over decades and across oceans. However, it was the 2018 film, Bohemian Rhapsody, the biographical musical drama centered around the life of Freddie Mercury, that brought the band back to the forefront and introduced Queen’s music to a generation who might otherwise have not listened to 1970s and 80s rock. While Queen’s spectacular music drew fans to the band, inextricable from the music and equally as powerful, was the mesmerizingly artistic, theatrical genius of Freddie Mercury. Mercury commanded attention onstage not only with his incomparable vocal range but his unique style, energy, and spirit. To the devastation of all, Mercury passed away in 1991. While his passing could’ve been the end of live Queen performances, Brian May and Roger Taylor opted to continue to perform….for themselves, for Freddie and for Queen’s millions of fans. Of course no one else can be Freddie Mercury and no one will ever try to replace Freddie Mercury. That could never happen. Queen performances are to honor the legacy of Freddie Mercury and the music of Queen. In 2009, Brian May and Roger Taylor unexpectedly became acquainted with an incredible American Idol vocalist who perfectly fill those honorary shoes. That incredible performer was and is Adam Lambert. For the past decade Lambert as been a part of Queen’s global tours (Queen + Adam Lambert), carrying on the legacy of Queen, highlighting the memory of Freddie Mercury, and showcasing his own spectacular vocal and theatrical abilities. Having seen Queen + Adam Lambert perform in 2019 I knew the show was going to be phenomenal. However, in the 4 years since the start of the Rhapsody Tour, the production is now exploding with electrifying visuals, pyrotechnics and moving parts. Like Mercury, who was a consummate frontman, Lambert’s showmanship took center stage throughout the performance. Over the course of the two-and-a-half hour show, Lambert had upwards of five costume changes, one more extravagant than the next. As Lambert sang, it was hard to take your eyes away from him as he dramatically strut about the stage and sauntered down the runway. Lambert emerged from beneath the stage on a giant rotating, silver-encased motorcycle for “Bicycle Race” and sang from the stage’s upper level on “Killer Queen.” More + photos.. infocusvisions.com/queen-adam-lambert-wells-fargo-center-philadelphia/

quackn, that's pretty much what it is. When you don't like something, it's hard to give it praise even when it's very high-quality. I'm not a country music fan either but I sure do recognize good country singers' voices when I hear them. It's the same for movies and TV shows and artistic endeavors of all kinds. Lots of Freddie die-hards still can't accept Adam as someone who could possibly have as much talent as Freddie had. Even when you know it in your head, you don't want to accept it in your heart. Heart wins over head for a lot of things. I think that’s exactly it. I just wonder if they have even seen the show, they just automatically dismiss Adam. They think Brian and Roger should have moved on to other things and left Queen in the past. The Austin show was different, many went for the race, the show was included. Not like a regular show where people paid for it, they were most likely already fans.

Heart wins over head for a lot of things. I so agree. But with Adam it is not just with fronting Queen. I have seen Kris and disgruntled Idol fans say Adam's career in no bigger than KA, lol. Or that Daughtry is more successful than Adam. Yes Daughtry sold more albums (if that is all you count) back when albums were selling well. But his net worth is $8M and Adam's is $45M and Adam is more high profile. So the media put Adam right behind Carrie and Kelly for most successful Idols. And some may argue that it is because of Queen. Yes, Queen was a major factor but Adam was the highest earning male Idol with a net worth of $11M before he even joined Queen (yes I always followed those things, lol). And tho Queen is a major part of his career, it IS part of his career and his accomplishments so it can't be discounted. And it goes along with all his solo tours, residencies, judging and other solo opportunities that he has enjoyed along with his frontman duties. Even Daughtry said he was proud of what Adam had accomplished and if he had been on his season, they would have said Daughtry who. I think Daughtry is successful in his own right but it was nice of him to say that.

I was at Epcot last Spring and they have nightly shows as part of the Flower and Garden Festival. Artists play for 2 or 3 nights, three 1/2 hour shows per night. Free with park admission. Kris Allen was on the list last Spring. So how can you compare doing free shows at Epcot (I know Disney paid him) to someone filling up arenas around the world with tickets costing hundreds of dollars. Yes, the Queen name pulls some people in but people walk out praising Adam. I have never seen a bad comment from someone who actually saw the show.

It seems that the condition of jealousy can get out of hand when someone is insecure and they project that when being a fan by dissing another artist.
Isn't this the night when Lady Luck will be attending QAL? So excited for her! Haven't seen any posting recently but hope she gives us a review tonight.
