lurleene, I am so glad you mentioned that Adam was a multi-millionaire before he even joined Queen. I think some people don't realize that fact. He worked his butt off those first few years touring and doing everything he could to keep up the momentum. He was the only Idol to his first solo tour both in the US and Internationally. And even now, his solo shows do quite well. His fans are loyal and active. And I agree that QAL is not just an add-on thing. It's an integral part of his career, along with his special appearances, acting, judging, etc. as you have already said. It's all Adam, in a variety of ways to show off his talents.

I always found it odd that some Idol fans would try to negate part of Adam's career as not counting. While he made a lot of money fronting Queen he was still making money with his solo projects and tours. Carrie made a huge amount of money from touring but her exercise clothing line was probably an even larger money maker for her (she and the sponsor stopped her line after many years during Covid). Some speculated that it was her stance against the vaccine and masks but I don't know how true that was. And there is no doubt that Kelly's net income increased tremendously when she became a judge on The Voice. She will not return as a judge on The Voice but she has her own tv show now. The Idols with the largest net worth, Carrie, Kelly, Adam and Jennifer all have many things other than album/single sales as lucrative parts of their careers. Queen was one of those avenues for Adam. Jennifer and Adam never had the massive radio play or album and single sales. Tho Jennifer was lucky enough to get a few Grammy's but she was in smaller and less competitive genres and not Pop. Carrie and Kelly enjoyed massive radio play, album/single sales (has dropped a lot now for them) and Grammy's. But they all were smart and diversified their careers and opportunities instead of sitting around waiting and letting radio kill their careers as many others did. |
