I think its big files etc to many YouTube or big pictures in one post that slow down forums .
I am to on another forum (adamlambertmtt ) and the forum there has a built in so automatic shrink big pictures to small ( IF you klick on them they open in a new window big size. It is made so you are getting a better flow.

And when before I was on other forums too the rule was not to many Youtube in one post not more than 1-3 and then you needed to  spread out those as well between post with other content so the pages don't freeze could be the problem in here. 

example you can sometimes change the urls so the pictures get smaller  I made space in them so they don't post.and the part in red its what you change
