Radio 1 .. IMHO It took them quite the time to accept RocknRoll,to accept Queen, now legendary.they seem to be rather snobish. Is this the only place that Adam could be heard??? They are not snobish IMO. They support their own artists and there are A LOT of them coming from various shows. Just like the US does for idols etc. You probably never heard of many of the artists that are being played on the UK radio now, and the majority of the UK people never heard of the idols that are being played in the US. But Radio 1 is not the beginning or the end of everything. JMHO. I had heard that "Whip My Hair" by Willow Smith was a big hit in the UK. Could you explain why? Was it just because she has famous parents? That song was awful. And aren't they playing Lana Del Rey in the UK (heard her album was selling well there)? If playing in the EMAs with legendary band Queen won't make a dent in getting him radio play, then I don't know what will.

Album sales and market value (Wikipedia):
1 USA 37–40% 2 Japan 9–12% 3 UK 7–9% 4 Germany 7–8% 5 France 4.5–5.5% 6 Canada 2.6–3.3% 7 Australia 1.5–1.8% 8 Brazil 2.0–3.8% 9 Italy 1.7–2.0% 10 Spain 1.7–2.3%
As Gelly has said, the British are important because they set trends for the rest of Europe. But I think I'll hold off on suicide watch.
Q3 comment: These market shares are 1990's-2000's shares -- way out of date. Pre-digital conversion.
Here are 2009 Market Shares from IFPI...
US 24.5% Japan 22.8% Germany 10.5% UK 9.3% France 6.2% Australia 2.5% Canada 2.2% The Netherlands 1.8% Italy 1.6% Spain 1.4%
JMHO -- UK has little influence over music in Germany/Austria, France or the Mediterranean.

US accepts a lot of British artists and UK accepts a lot of US artists. I never said anything about accepting the Brits in the US. This has nothing to do with acceptance. I simply stated the facts. And about Adam and working hard, Robbie Williams worked hard to get the respect the Brits believed that he should have gained in the US (and I believed that too) and never made it big. It is what it is. I am still remaining calm. Too early to panic. OK Gelly... coffee with the tears spilled into the sink, with a change of attitude. Thanks.. deep breath in .... out

There is a short mention of Adam in the videotext of our German music channel VIVA today! I made a screenshot of it! It's taken from the "Daily-Star"-Interview about the Queen rumors. It says that Adam will probably join the band for a few concerts. He says he will pay tribute to Freddie and the band by singing their great songs and that by this means the music and its energy will be kept alive for the fans and that Freddie would be proud of it! Cool ;D But they should have checked there facts, they wrote that Freddie died off cancer :-/

I can't explain why, I'm not an expert, not AT ALL lol, I'm just posting my opinion and my perspective being a European. In MY opinion only, of course it had a lot to do with her parents being the Smiths. And about Lana Del Ray as I heard from all of you, I didn't know much about her, only heard Video Games in Greece and it's a hit here too, her parents had a lot to do with the promotion. And another thing. This guy Leighton, is a huge Glambert. His frustration is coming from a not very proffessional point of view.

shoshannastone shoshanna stone @ @flyteness1 @leytonb i believe that the glamberts and new glamberts coming on board every day would be able to chart this single in the top

Very nice! I've saved it with the Adam / Queen articles. Scroll down: atop.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=tres&thread=698&page=1

www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Adam+Lambert+-+Better+Than+I+Know+Myself&oq=Adam+Lambert+-+Better+Than+I+Know+Myself&aq=f&aqi=g-C4&aql=&gs_sm=s&gs_upl=6264l6264l0l6897l1l1l0l0l0l0l128l128l0.1l1l0views 2,201,067 of BTIKM video, according to my calculations should be 3 million in 2 days people are freaking out about radio play in the UK. Don't know if it's accurate or true what one guy said, don't know if the world is going to end if it's not in the UK radio. But I believe that "success is the best revenge" and really respect and love people with an attitude that "my haters are my motivators" as with the attitude of Ellen in her JC Penney video talk of today. But personally I don't want to listen to the music that some radio stations are mostly playing, I'm too old for that. And the music like the last one of Madonna is too teen like for my taste. What I'm mostly interested about is that Adam has given me my interest back to listen to the music again. I think his new music video is geniously done. I like so far everything I've heard from his new #Tresspassing album and don't want him to start making music only for being played in the UK radio or whatever. Let's make sure the new video is going to have several million views, let's request his music on the radio wherever we can, and tweet and RT and bring all the news about him here around the world. And support him anyway we can. I think we have more power than we think.
