And now onto my thoughts about BTIKM.
Context: I listen to a lot of pop music and I love it. I like strong hooks and beats, and I don't care that a song has stupid lyrics as long as the beat is amazing. I love Rihanna's We Found Love for this reason. I love Katy Perry's songs, I think they have genius, strong pop hooks. I love Adele and Bruno Mars and even though I think Madonna is a bitch, I think her new song "Gimme all your luvin" has a KILLER rhythm that burrows in your brain instantly.
I personally think BTIKM is not a strong pop song. Why? Can't quite explain. It's just my intuition (hence, opinion). When I listened to Adam sing it acoustically, he took it to a new level for me, and that was amazing, but the radio version is not something I would personally buy, for instance, if it weren't for Adam. Of course, I still dutifully request and so on. And I thought the video also took it to a new level. I really really like the video.
That being said, I also don't think Kelly Clarkson's MKIA is a strong pop song. I instantly loved Stronger the moment I heard it leaked. MKIA, not so much. (I also really like Dark Side, btw) And that didn't stop MKIA from reaching Top 10 and higher all over the place. So it can be done with the right circumstances.
I don't think Adam's BTIKM is dead just yet. As many pointed out, the song is still growing on radio, and there's a high chance Z100 adds soon. Question for me is: how high can this song go on the charts, with Z100 and NYC support and all? I would love to at least see it go Top 10 on HAC. Then RCA can move on to the next song without having the blemish of one failed song this era (I think that blemish is a difficult one to erase. I know they did it with FYE, but they switched so fast that people didn't even register what was going on. For instance, there was never even talk of Z100 supporting FYE. Now, it's clear that RCA made a full-fledged push for BTIKM and if this push does not succeed, it will be seen as a flop. That's not a good thing, IMO).
So, my conclusion: at this point, they NEED to support BTIKM a little longer. They need to at least make it a minor hit on HAC. I am almost certain at this point (based on Adam's coy response and the radio charting) that a new single will be released before the album drops. When it will be released is another matter. I think they are waiting to see how well BTIKM does, and my guess is a new single will be released as soon as possible after they can say that BTIKM is not a flop at HAC.
ETA: So probably release new song after BTIKM reaches Top 20 on HAC or similar? That's my prediction. Crystal ball and all.

Q3 posted on Page 1: "[Energy NRJ DJs] asked Adam 'what is the best song to have sex to?' Adam’s response was “Since I’ve Been Loving You" by Led Zeppelin is really hot! I think it’s more of like a wild f**k song, and then there is probably one that is more of like a romantic making love song.'” On that topic, in previous interviews (circa 2009-2010) Adam has mentioned 2 other songs that were good "sex songs". They were "Utopia" by Goldfrapp and "Angel" by Massive Attack. Both are of the "slow fuck" variety. I'm trying to remember in which interviews he talks about these songs, but I think one of them was his songlist that was posted on Itunes. Anyway, in case anyone is interested, here they are: Just a little something to get peeps ready for Valentine's Day.

Remember what Adam said about getting the collective eyeroll? This is still happening with him for a number of reasons. The main one is that he's gay, another important one is that the FYE era had a very flamboyant gay who pushed a lot of buttons with the AMA's, his GNT concerts, and his music in general with FYE and Fever in particular. People in my family give him the collective eyeroll all the time and will not listen to his music. I've gotten to where I just don't mention him at all even though they know I follow him intensely. They just don't want to hear about it and when they do it's eyeroll time again. I hate to say it, but I wish he had started the first era off like he is with this one. I think it would have gone over better and gained him more fans. As it is, he has a loyal fan base that stuck with him through everything in the first era, but I believe the fans he gained during FYE era were mostly overseas. I just don't see him selling much here in America and that may be why they are concentrating on the overseas market this time around. They know radio is still eyerolling him along with all the haters here in America and that it will take making him big overseas first to get him in the door over here. I do believe that Adam will make it big in other ways also, especially with Queen. I see that gig as being the way Adam gets his name out there around the world in a big way and hopefully here in America too. Sorry that I'm rambling but also want to say that I will be so pissed if radio plays the heck out of Kris's new music while shunning Adam. I may just burst a blood vessel over that one, if it happens. I agree with this quite a bit. My DH and friends do the collective eye roll too and for DH I think he can't/couldn't get past the look to hear the voice. Heck, even sometimes I have to close my eyes because his look is so powerful both with and without makeup. But era one was all about the OTT makeup and I do think that hindered the mainstream appeal especially given the gay announcement. Some will come back, some will never come back, some will discover him for the first time, some will always be around. I think (only my opinion) that Adam understands this but wants to trespass on his terms - and I am proud of him for this. As I said earlier, I do think he will eventually reach the success that both he and the fans seek for him, but it will be a long slog up the hill and international popularity will go along way to gaining acceptance here - and time. Look how far things have progressed over the last couple of years (present political issues aside). We just need to keep moving forward, educating people as we can, support Adam and his music and continue to let the Radio peeps know we are interested in Adam:-)

Worrying about Kris Allen? Oh, hell no. Can you imagine the mockery? I'm begging that we don't go there.... Ha, ha! IKR! I heard the snippet too and it sounds good. But it was only 10 seconds. I listened to the whole remix and thought it was awful. As we all know it really doesn't matter how good a song is. A large part of what gets played on radio has no rhyme or reason. IMO. it won't be easy for Kris this era. His 2nd and 3rd singles went nowhere. As a matter of fact, his album went nowhere. Many people can not even remember his name. But if he gets added fast and the song is a hit, then I say "Good for him!" He really has nothing to do with Adam. Only in the Idol bubble does any of that matter. Even Adam would be wanting Kris to have success, I'll bet!

ITA about Kris' new single. I watched some of the videos over at MJs and he has a different sound this time. I also think the PDs are going to add his song quicker. I just want Adam to get a far shot this time around with radio play. Kris and Adam aren't in competition with each other. They are entirely different artists and each has their own battles to wage in this industry. One doesn't have to fail for the other to succeed and as Adam fans we shouldn't even care what Kris does (unless you're a fan of his too). my opinion is that Adam's song is doing fine. It's making progress every day on radio so not much more we can ask for right now. eta: hello lurker out of lurkdom OMG!!!!!!!!! Love your name and your AVI! WELCOME!!!!!!!!!
