But if ya use AP style, it isn't immediately obvious whether its a song or an album and isn't the point of the stylistic differences to make it immediately obvious which is which?

On the Just Dance comparison -- JD Released 4/8/08 took 22 weeks to hit #1 on the Hot 100 -- but the strategy was to build a club hit and then cross over to pop. It was #1 when she dropped the album. Can't get more perfect than that. Fame (album) released 8/19/08 Poker Face Released 9/23/08 -- after the album was a hit and not really relevant to the lead single discussion. So Gaga has a number 1 Pop hit perfectly timed for the release of her album. with 6 weeks to album release for Adam -- BTIKM peaked at #76 on the Hot 100 the first week of January before it was released to radio. The video is out -- and great. Adam knocked the ball out of the park with his live performances -- and the track is barely in the Top 200 on the iTunes Pop Chart #197 -- #666 in all songs. How can the song start selling until radio spins increase>? He has barely done promo here, geez at least let him work radio and stuff here and see if Z adds before we call this song dead. IMO that is srsly jumping the gun especially knowing that he doesn't shoot up the charts. And that's all I am gonna say about that, ya'll have at it.

A second single would be amazing! BTIKM isn't exactly the most thrilling lead in to Trespassing after all.. I mean gosh, most of the album tracks on FYE are better :-/ ummm that is YOUR *opinion*. Like I said, it isn't everyone's cuppa but it is a good song and got great reviews (pop ear candy anyone?) and we have no proof that an uptempo would have had an easier time at all. He isn't a radio darling yet, and may never be, so we kinda need to let the song do it's thing. Uptempo dancey pop songs always jump on the top chart fast IMHO but how long they stay really depend on the public interest. Adele and Bruno Mars slow songs last long on our chart simply they are very catchy popish to me. But I never would think Kelly's MIKA can make to the top30 but "It did" , so anything can happen. Kelly's Stronger is playing all the time on my radio now and I think it's more poppy than MIKA. Yes, I am waiting for Trespassing to drop !!!!  ETA : I still request BTIKM everyday |
