I don't think Adam will ever be a Brandi Carlisle or Melissa Etheridge, they seem to be singer-songwriter types and also play an instrument. I don't see him in a lane like them. Pop, Pop rock, Disco leaning pop, glam rock, funk rock/pop are all genres Adam could shine, and for the most part, that's what he's doing.

Rock rockstar! Adam can rock with the best of them. Better than most cause he is a better vocalist with great showmanship.

But just to clarify, I did not mean Adam would be like them I just meant he could do rock, glam rock, alt as well as soul, funk, pop/rock and not just in the pop or dance/pop box that seems to be the most promoted. He has some diverse songs on all of his albums so would have been nice to see some of them pushed in different genres like many others do. And Adam is also a song-writer and I love some of the songs he wrote/co-wrote so much better than the ones he got from Dr. Luke. But he will do what he wants as we have been told over and over again. So just wishful thinking. HA.

While Adam doesn’t want to be boxed into a specific musical genre, I think he has made it pretty clear as of late that his new music will reflect the type of music that he himself is mostly listening to within his circles and his community, and we got a taste of it with WD.
As far as I remember, Adam has always had a soft spot for pop music and he hardly ever mentioned wanting to go rock leaning, despite push in that direction as early on as Idol as well as from some of his fans.
Wasn’t it prior to the TP era that his label wanted him to do an 80’s cover album but instead Adam decided to executive produce Trespassing? I think that he has always made the music that he felt most passionate about and that he has explored over the years and within each album various genres. Lucky us! My biggest issue is that most of the time I didn’t consider the promoted singles his best songs while other times, especially with Velvet, the album rollout felt a bit anti-climactic to me. And that was before Covid hit.
As I am thinking of all the great music over the years, my favorite “single” to date is probably Ghost Town. It holds a bit of a sentimental value as I danced to it in a club(!) when my son graduated from college haha. That was a while ago. The kids loved that song.
