Responding to pi's post from last night. Don't know why I can't get the video to post, lol. But great review as Adam rocked Sleepwalker. I love it. Unfortunately a lot of his rock-like songs are not known by the general public. That is why it is so weird to hear some say he doesn't want to do rock as a solo artist. He has some rock or rock leaning songs on ALL his albums but they were never pushed to rock radio or anywhere actually. HA. In fact, his rock-like songs and his emotional or theatrical ballads that showcase his vocals are my favorites from Adam. And except for a few cuts, Velvet did not sound much like a pop album, imo. And FYE had some pop-rock, ballads, rock and glam-rock sensibilities and not only pop. Tho I'm inclined to agree he/team like to push/promote the more pop/dance songs cause he may like them more or feel that is his best fit. But no matter the genre or with QAL, Adam can slay with just his vocals, band and organic/sexy dance moves (sometimes with backup singers). And he can rock with his solo work too. What is strange is in one of his interviews at he release of High Drama he said he wanted to put a rock twist on some of the music because that's what his fans want (can't say that is verbatim). And, he has has said he wanted to be a rock star, which he thinks he is with Queen. Maybe he just wants his other lane to be different. But, I agree, he really is not pop.

I don't think I'll ever get tired of hearing Spike talk about the first time he heard Adam...amazing how Adam's future changed in just that moment...and all because Spike needed a refill on his martini lol Can so identify with Oliver's post about leaving your hometown. As I get older, I keep thinking about wanting to go back to my little hometown in Germany, but not wanting to at the same time because I know it's going to be completely different from when I grew up there. And that makes me sad. I have all these memories that I won't be able to revisit because it's changed so much...my sister was there a few years ago, and said it was depressing. ETA: Also realize what Oliver is saying about your worldview broadening when you move away. It's like breaking away from that little tiny bubble you grew up in.

In Oliver's story, I get the impression that it's not the hometown that's changed so much, but that he's changed and evolved so much that he feels he's outgrown what he left behind.

Agree....I added that on to my post. I felt the same way.
