You know, we all love to make his radio shunning all about the gay gay gay...but the US music world was totally ready to anoint him as the next total amazing best thing...top writers wanting to be on his first album, support to do a full tour right out the gate and the final spot on the AMA's....and that is when it stopped. Radio cut him off at the knees not because he is gay but because he did not obey the apex rule of you do not surprise the powers that be on live television. He know that was it and yes, he has gone above and beyond to mitigate what he did, and he has "recuperated" much more than many would have because of his talent and charm, but he has been made an example of and that is that. Anytime someone wants to know what they can get away with...they do not have to look any further than that.

There are lots of lines that are not crossed by live shows but are complete no-nos on tv or film.

Often, nobody says 'you crossed the line' but it was crossed:
Sam Smith and Lil Nax [sp] went over a line that is hurting them now...
Look at what happened to Will Smith when he hit Chris Rock....gone gone.....
A number of stars who were caught/majorly charged with sexual abuse learned it the hard way
Johnny Depp may have hurt his wife with his very public suit of her, but he is suffering just as much now by shunning by his community and his loud fans cannot fix that.

Sometimes the public shaming and/or industry shunning is deserved and sometimes it is not...but it is pretty effective at keeping folks inline...
