What I don't like about the iTunes # is the fact that BTIKM is the lead-off single from a very anticipated album. And while Adam may not yet be a "radio star," the media perceives him as a star and he is pretty much treated as such. And I don't think the iTunes performance is reflecting this. I'm curious, and I should go back and check, but just what artists are around him in the 700's on iTunes? Are they well known? Are they current? Are they on their 1st single or their 4th? Honestly, I would need to go back and check.
People should definitely leave the PDs alone. I think radio likes Adam. You can see it with every interview he has done this week. Just because they aren't jumping all over BTIKM doesn't mean they won't be all over a different song.
It is frustrating--WTMX added, but they haven't given one spin to BTIKM that wasn't from U-Mix-It. Has Z100 even given the song a test spin yet?
It is really good to hear that BTIKM should move to #29 on HAC. Do we have the spincrease yet?
eta---Oh shoot he lost spins?
That shouldn't be happening :(

I think we need to give the promo a week to work at least! If at the end of next week there is little pick up then maybe a rethink is needed, although I must say that Adam doesn't seem worried at all....in fact the opposite. I have NEVER seen him so happy.
And yes, many fans are vocally upset over the progress and are saying/hoping he should abandon BTIKM whether on twitter or in radio station lobbies so I think we all know it is not just some of the posters here.

on C HAC his AI # again dropped to impression from 2/8
Again if this song was resonating, I would like to see a positive as we are seeing a new song w/ New DIrection which is going ganbusters (like #10 on itunes). I happened to hear it and I liked it instantly, I don't think WTIKM is doing it instantly.
Crap look at the spins increase kelly is getting EACH F n day.

My problem with BTIKM is that it's not radio friendly in my car. Not that the song format isn't but that the production isn't. It has this high pitched electronic whine that comes in and out (I'd say kind of like the light flares in the IIHY video but sonically) and it's uncomfortable to listen to thru my car speakers whether turned loud or soft.
When I'm listening on head phones that high pitch is a bit more bearable but I can also hear Adam's voice better and so I can ignore it more. I don't know if this is the producers (ie the push on the last chorus of TFM) or if it's Adam getting in all his bells and whistles (ie IIHY lightning bolts).

I think Adam is happy because he knows that he has bigger hit potential on the album. I know that's why I'm not worried. It isn't the same situation as someone like Cook who released, basically, his only radio-friendly song and then had nowhere to go.
I think BTIKM is a grower. I've always thought that. It may take a lot of spins at prime hours before it begins to connect with listeners, and it's not getting that.
I think if the song was going to pick up (especially at these East coast stations Adam has been visiting) we would be seeing something now. I see a lot of excitement over Adam, not so much excitement over the single.

If it happens consecutive days, that would be cause for concern. 2 of those - spins are from Detroit, I'm sure. Which would also account for the AI drop, since Detroit is a pretty big market. So it is not time to yell, "The sky is falling." Remember the -16 bullet is really not a minus bullet. What it means is the bullet is 16 less than yesterday. Yesterday his bullet was 101. Today it is 85. It is the 3rd number, from the left, in those sequence of numbers. |

SPins are dropping, sations have added, but not playing prime time, AI dropping but need stations to play. STations are not playing so how does he win RCA obviously thought it was a great 1st pic for this album. They are the expects. I like BTIKM. I like screaming to it in the chorus. but I might be in the minority. Happiness might also be from personal happiness. How do we know radio will play the next on a hot rotation cycle? we don't. Media loves yes but will the radio spin it and will the public buy it? I shld post this on the other topic, but yesterday while I was at Q102, I was talking to the receptionist and watching. A few other employees dropped in and asked who the guest was and with sneered faces, they would reply AL, You know it just annoyed me. So just pointing out, there is still negativity that AL has to overcome. just bothers me. |

Um, I've been scrolling, scrolling, scrolling lately. But I just need a to ask a few hypothetical questions.
What is the worse that could happen if the spins fall off and go into a steady decline over time rather than the occasional perfectly common, stop and start? Answer? We eventually (when the timing is right / and/or it's finished) get a new single.
What is the best way to prepare for either the eventuality of a new single or the upward climb of this one? To support BTIKM. This doesn't just mean voting and requesting. But in my mind also not discouraging fellow fans from voting and requesting and in general being positive themselves about the single with angst spiraling.
Realism and angst spiraling? Two completely separate things IMO. Realism looks at the big picture and context among the industry, and sees that many different, often windy and forward and backward paths eventually lead to the same goal. Angst spiraling sees a cloud and starts warning the neighbors about heavy flooding.
Adam is promoting really hard right now, and to my eyes and ears is genuinely positive and excited about the album and the new songs he's working on. He also sings BTIKM live like an angel, it sounds great in these radio visits.
Honestly that's all I need. I like watching the numbers out of scientific curiosity and to pay attention to new spinners or stations that need more love, but in my mind clouds might bring a little rain, not the sky falling.

Maybe your feed hasn't updated today, jazzrocks, but I have been watching this for 2 days now and it has been in the lower 700s. I have 726 this morning. It's moved up almost 300 spots since the video came out on i-Tunes. Do I need to post my spin/sales comparisons for songs around it on the charts again? :-/ It is so poised to be #29 tomorrow on HAC!  I just checked again and now I get #747. I have no idea why my feed is different from yours. :-/ But I guess it doesn't mean that much when it's in the 700's. I'm pretty sure fans (me included) are worrying more about this situation than Adam is. He seems supremely happy & upbeat in all of his interviews and there's no way it is not genuine. I just don't know what to think anymore. |
