I'm pretty sure fans (me included) are worrying more about this situation than Adam is. He seems supremely happy & upbeat in all of his interviews and there's no way it is not genuine. I just don't know what to think anymore. Maybe I'm simple-minded or something, but I generally take my cues from Adam. While upbeat and positive he's pretty honest, and not that hard to read when he occasionally isn't quite as thrilled about something. Plus he and RCA have information about the picture of the whole roll-out to come (and more detailed feedback on sales and spins) that none of us have.

Um, I've been scrolling, scrolling, scrolling lately. But I just need a to ask a few hypothetical questions. What is the worse that could happen if the spins fall off and go into a steady decline over time rather than the occasional perfectly common, stop and start? Answer? We eventually (when the timing is right / and/or it's finished) get a new single. What is the best way to prepare for either the eventuality of a new single or the upward climb of this one? To support BTIKM. This doesn't just mean voting and requesting. But in my mind also not discouraging fellow fans from voting and requesting and in general being positive themselves about the single with angst spiraling. Realism and angst spiraling? Two completely separate things IMO. Realism looks at the big picture and context among the industry, and sees that many different, often windy and forward and backward paths eventually lead to the same goal. Angst spiraling sees a cloud and starts warning the neighbors about heavy flooding. Adam is promoting really hard right now, and to my eyes and ears is genuinely positive and excited about the album and the new songs he's working on. He also sings BTIKM live like an angel, it sounds great in these radio visits. Honestly that's all I need. I like watching the numbers out of scientific curiosity and to pay attention to new spinners or stations that need more love, but in my mind clouds might bring a little rain, not the sky falling. OMG! I love you so fuckin much right now! I have been trying to think of a PC way to say excatly the same thing you just said, but my mind was failing me!! This is the most perfect post in so many ways!!!!!

I agree. I don't like to see fans discouraging other fans which leads to give-up-itis - and the why vote and request if the song is dead in the water mentality. It only takes a few vocal fans on twitter or wherever to bring back that old sky-is-falling mentality and the badgering of Adam and RCA to do something-right now. That irks me. :-/ Another thought - I'm not at all sure that all these "fan" naysayers are Adam's fans. The mod at TWOP is very canny at recognizing these trolls and straightening them out real quick. Twitter has no such safeguards - people are free to spout all kinds of negative shit and then sit back and watch the pandemonium they cause among Adam's fans.
Adam and RCA are not blind and stupid. They see the whole picture and will do what is best for Adam.
ETA- I'm not very PC. Sorry. 8-)

I agree with you 100% rabbit! I can't figure out why people out on the internet who are angsting, tearing their hair and demanding a new single think they are doing anything that will help. They are projecting the belief that Adam is flopping and increasing the distress of the general fandom. Adam has always had to fight for everything in this industry, and we are not helping when we do this. RCA and Adam know what is going on and they will deal with it the best they know how. There is so much to be happy about. It is our unrealistic expectations which are causing much of this distress. They will not drop a new single until after this one gets high enough to not be called a flop, which is at least Top 20 on HAC. Maybe the numbers really aren't for everyone. That old saying that ignorance is bliss maybe be true. The fandom needs to stop crying the sky is falling and focus on the good stuff. The only ones they are distressing are themselves. Don't let them do it to you, too.

.I don't think anyone here has been encouraging people to give up and stop supporting or voting. Maybe that's a twitter issue?
Personally, I don't think this is great progress for a lead-off single with the album drop approaching. But I'm still voting and requesting. This is a place where I feel like I can express some doubts without worrying about the sharks circling (like some other places we al know)

Maybe the few sky-is-falling fans didn't vote previously so no loss.

I had to go to the "other place" earlier to read some posts that gave some positive perspective to the numbers today!
I'm listening to Adam sing BTIKM right now for radio promo. And he is singing it sooooo beautifully.
"I've never heard anyone sound better - beautiful," the dj just said. Keep working hard, Adam!

But, really, then I came back here and there were posts here too about daily bullets vs. weekly, etc. that gave more perspective, balance . . . So, maybe not "more positive" but . . . faster!
