I've been reading all the angst about the EP "Afters". I can't get all twisted up about it - Adam's released EPs of EDM versions of Trespassing, WDWFM, and others for years now. I've bought some, I like some. Avicii was EDM, and there are other EDM artists/djs who are talented. (I may have mentioned that I am a lawyer representing condominiums - one board president is an international EDM DJ, and his repertoire includes a Freddie/Queen dance rave thing.)
We haven't even heard the music yet, and I'm not going to pre-judge if I will like it or not. I don't go to dance clubs, but I often need to listen to something "not on the radio" to put up with a hectic driving commute.
This weekend, the 41 year old daughter remarked that she had been following Vincint for a while, and just saw that Adam had duetted with Vincint. So there's that. My third-grader granddaughter performed at her school's talent show, with her basketball handling skills to an Eminem soundtrack. It came to my mind that the same beat was present in Led Zeppelin's Kashmir, but that was not on her radar, nor for her classmates. (At least different than the 10 kids doing Taylor.)
Long way of saying, I will listen to Adam's music and wait for him to tour sometime.

I think for me the issue isn't electronic v dance v rock v pop v pop rock....I like electronic dance music and I think Adam has put out some good electronic dance music. The Vincent track is really good. My issue is with the new album is the explicit subject matter -- not just sex (no issue with albums about sex of any kind)//the album appears to be focussed on jizz--- so far the visuals are all literally dripping in it (that is not water dripping down, or that he is playing with). The singles we have heard or now know the names of are wet dream and Lube. Its just...crass. For me. Maybe not for others. And obviously not for Adam's friends. www.billboard.com/culture/pride/adam-lambert-afters-ep-lgbtq-music-1235689009/
